Devil May Cry

Thunderbolt Games
19 October 2007
  • Excerpt: The son of Sparda Trapped in a large crypt, standing in front of a cluster of advancing demonic puppets, devil hunter Dante calmly and not without an aura of confidence draws his huge sword, Alastor. The six-foot blade crackles and almost dances in his hands with anticipation and the blue/white heat of electricity.

Devil May Cry

Just RPG
24 November 2006
  • Excerpt: I know what you’re thinking. “What, that’s not an RPG!?!” Yeah, you’re right. It’s an action game, and probably one of the finest we’ll ever see on the PS2. Still, there were some nice RPG elements thrown in, and Devil May Cry features a little bit for all gamers. 2,000 years ago, a dark knight named Sparta rose up against the Devil and saved mankind. He married a human woman, and they gave birth to a half-demon half-human child, Dante.

Devil May Cry

Playstation Illustrated
22 November 2006
  • Excerpt: Devil May Cry is gorgeous. It reminds me a lot of Onimusha , another of Capcom's earlier PS2 titles, only kicked up many notches. The levels are lush, dark and utterly beautiful. I found myself wandering about just trying to take in everything there was to see. It's quite obvious that a lot of time was put into rendering such enveloping environments. Likewise, the sound effects are pretty good as well.

Devil May Cry 3 PlayStation 2 Review

Game Info Wire
4 December 2005
  • Excerpt: Were you one of those who thought (correctly) that “Devil May Cry 2” was a lackluster sequel to the excellent DMC 1? Apparently the developers took that criticism personally, and they’re back for revenge by making “Devil May Cry 3” INSANELY hard.

Devil May Cry

Into Liquid Sky
20 December 2003
  • Excerpt: Devil May Cry is in one word: Awesome. It is the story of Dante, a man with demon blood flowing within him. A man who's out to find the murderer of his family. He is what you would call a demon hunter, going from one mission to the next trying to find the one who committed the deed. One night, a mysterious young lady comes into his place (called Devil May Cry) giving him a job he can't refuse.
  • Pros: Awesome Architecture, Highly Detailed Graphics, Killer Soundtrack, Easy controls to master
  • Cons: Game could be a bit too difficult, Fights might get repetitive to some

Devil May Cry

Evergeek
6 November 2001
  • Excerpt: Look past the cheeseball storyline and dorktastic characters and Devil May Cry could just be the best button-mashing action game of all time. At first glance this gothic fight-fest is Resident Evil on meth and steroids, but beneath the survival horror trappings beats the heart of an old-school 2D action game, retooled for another dimension and next-gen hardware.

Devil May Cry

TotalPlayStation.com

  • Excerpt: Y'know, I'm not entirely sure why you're reading this. I mean, you should be playing or thinking about playing or planning to think about playing Devil May Cry. It quite literally freaks me out that Shinji Mikami and his team, the guys behind the Resident Evil games even have a hand in DMC. After all, Devil May Cry is the absolute antithesis of RE.

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: No matter the console, no matter the year, and no matter the series, Capcom is one of those developers that just doesn't let down their fans. The 3rd party, most notable for their Street Fighter and Resident Evil franchise, features single-handedly some of gaming's greatest game minds. First is Keiji Inafune, the man who gave birth to the classic Mega Man franchise, as well as the unforgettable Ghosts and Goblins and 1942.
