31 May 2010
Excerpt: If you are a gamer you’ll know that if you loved a game the first time around you are going to be gasping for the sequel. For many this was the case with Devil May Cry, an action title that earned a tremendous amount of momentum with its first outing. A follow up was always going to have a lot to live up to. Devil May Cry 2 arrived amidst a level of hype, which was in danger of overshadowing the actual quality of the game.
Conclusion: THE VERDICT: The failings of the sequel are now a thing of the past, and Capcom has proven that it can reclaim the lost brilliance of the original with Dante's Awakening. It's fast and furious, packed with more slam-bang action than you can believe, and presents all challengers with a come-hither look that says, "beat me if you can." For fans of the original, this prequel is what they've been waiting for since 2001. Enjoy.
Conclusion: Chances are that once Devil May Cry 3 gets going, it will be awhile for the player to stop. Especially considering how much depth there is to it. Players can build Dante’s proficiencies in accordance with whatever play style best suits his or her keyboard, and the multitude of upgrades and weapons make the game even more in-depth.
Excerpt: Think Devil May Cry , and the first word that pops in your head is style (followed shortly by ultra-violent). The original Devil May Cry was a beautiful game and one of the first games that let you know that the next generation of gaming had arrived. Flash forward about a year or so later and we have Devil May Cry 2 , a game that Capcom would probably rather you just forget altogether.
Excerpt: It was just a horrible, horrible nightmare. Surely something as preposterous and arduous as “Infected Tank” and “Infected Helicopter” couldn’t exist as gaming bosses, could they’ The tank provided a battle that all but required the skill to keep out of sight of the other tanks, whilst hacking and shooting away.
Summary: After the disappointment of Devil May Cry 2 Capcom decided to go back to the roots of the game for the third instalment which has proven to be an excellent choice. The game is a lot of fun whether it's the non-stop action of battles or the mind-twisting puzzles; DMC3 provides a great gameplay experience. The story is good, the gameplay is back to its best and there are new additions to it making it well worth your time and money. This is by far the best DMC yet.
Excerpt: Everyone said it was over Devil May Cry was brilliant. A sequel was imminent. However, when it finally surfaced it crashed and burned harder than Kelsey Grammer in his Dodge Viper, dragging Capcom's name through the dirt and inducing rumors that the company had struck only a one hit wonder with the previous game and that the Devil's reign had ended before it had even began. Everyone said it was over.
