Contra: Shattered Soldier
4 September 2004
Excerpt: Contra: Shattered Soldier is a very adult game. No, not adult in a foul mouthed low-budget porn kind of way, but in the sense that a good part of the gaming public just won't 'get it'. Not to cut down or insult the current generation of gamers, most of whom have developed in the nice warm womb of the PlayStation and Nintendo 64, but you have no idea the kind of fun you guys missed out on.
Excerpt: Playing action-packed co-op games is not an idea of the past. In fact, in my humble opinion, it’s some of the best forms of electronic entertainment. Sitting down with one or more friends and blowing sh*t up, it's quality bonding time. Needless to say, I was pumped to play Contra: Shattered Soldier, and usually I don't read anyone's opinions on games until I review them. This time, I slipped up. My wandering eyes caught a glance and I was tainted.
Excerpt: It's been far too long since we've had a decent Contra title released on a console, not since Contra III for the Super Nintendo have Contra fans been treated to anything remotely appealing. After 2 disastrous attempts by two different teams over at Konami, the original team has returned and has resurrected Contra to the incredible status of where the franchise once was in the 8 and 16-bit era.
