Buzz! The Mega Quiz (PS2)

Crispy Gamer
30 January 2008
  • Excerpt: At a Sony event held in steamy Chicago last summer, I was suddenly and rudely surprised. During breakfast, the journos on the trip were asked to play Sony's new trivia game show experience, Buzz! It was early in the morning, and I was empty-stomached and grumpy, my head still pounding from indulging the night before in unmentionable activities.

  • Excerpt: Buzz! is a game that has been extremely popular for Sony in Europe. Despite all of the success, it has taken them quite a while to bring the game over to the US. However, this holiday season Buzz!: The Mega Quiz was finally released--packaged with four Buzzers. Surprisingly this is one trivia game that is just a blast to play whether on your PlayStation 2 or on a backwards compatible PlayStation 3.

Buzz!: The Mega Quiz Review

VideoGamer.com

  • Excerpt: Buzz! Probably doesn't get the credit it deserves. While Nintendo has been lapping up praise for developing a console that appeals to a wide range of people, Sony has been tapping into that non-gamer market for a good few years now. With its EyeToy, SingStar and Buzz franchises the company has a strong grip on casual and group gaming, and Buzz's latest quiz offering should make the entire family keen to gather around the TV and do what at one stage seemed impossible:...

Buzz! The Mega Quiz

Playstation Illustrated
30 November 2007
  • Excerpt: Buzz! The Mega Quiz is a novel new game show for the PS2. I say novel because Buzz! is played with actual buzzers instead of the normal controllers. The characters and sets are interesting to say the least. If you watch through the intro, it'll show you how the contestants were kidnapped, I mean "selected" for the show. Your host, Buzz, looks like a muppet with a flip-top head. His associate is the much disproportioned Vanessa.

Smart and sassy quiz show ideal for older kids.

Common Sense Media

  • Summary: Parents need to know that this game draws inspiration from television quiz shows and that, much like watching an episode of Jeopardy , you may learn a thing or two while playing. However, unlike Jeopardy 's charming Alex Trebek, this host issues playful verbal assaults at trailing contestants. However, so long as players have a thick skin for insults hurled by a cheesy video game character, there is little here to offend.

  • Excerpt: Buzz Trivia is old, the PlayStation2 is old... a match made in heaven! Especially if you're permanently or temporarily bored with or otherwise un-interested in "videogames" and more interested in "games that everyone can play and enjoy, especially with friends and the odd cocktail or three or none if the kids are around.

Buzz! The Mega Quiz

  • Excerpt: Following the success of Buzz! The Sports Quiz and Buzz! The Music Quiz, the quiz master himself has been spending the winter lounging around the poolside of his own private island. Buzz has been far too busy getting a tan, cavorting with women and drinking fancy alcoholic beverages with umbrellas in them to be working on his new quiz. Fortunately, rich and famous as he is now, he has people to do that sort of thing for him.
