Disappointing

Amazon
24 July 2002
  • Summary: The graphics are good, but my nine year old daughter was under the impression it was about dancing. Really the main focus is on the two circles at the bottom of the screen and pushing the correct button sequence, with dancers in the background. It's overpriced and it's lame. If you are a die hard Britney fan, rent it first then decide if you want to pay (to own it).

  • Summary: first off read the review titled: "Not bad.... but could have been more" that person has done a good job of summing up the gameplay and the overall quality of the game. I would echo the fact that the game is fun for a few hours. The gameplay ramps up considerably fast and I find the second 5 levels to be really challenging. Only for the extremely dextrous fingers.

  • Excerpt: I bought this game to play with my 11 year old daughter. She was excited by the Britney content and we browsed through what was available before getting into the game. The video clips are of good quality and you can control the camera to watch the action from a variety of angles. Britney did seem to be a long way from the camera in most of the initial clips.
  • Pros: Britney videos and tid bits
  • Cons: Dull gameplay, too difficult with dancemat

Can Britney play this right to the end?

  • Excerpt: I have recently purchased a copy of Britneys Dance Beat for the Playstation 2 which I aquired on ebay for a mere 10 pounds, cheap at half the price I thought until I cracked it out and played it. The music is ok if you are in to Britney Spears but there are only five different songs on it which becomes fairly monotonous after about half an hour. The songs include " Baby One More Time", " Stronger", "Oops I did it again" and another two little less known ones.
  • Pros: It keeps you fit
  • Cons: not easy to play

  • Excerpt: When I played this with a PS2 regular joystick, seems great. I always love Brit's dances and moves and adore it, but not quite long I got bored... maybe because after finishing all the stages eventually there's no more challenging ones. Never mind, and so for not getting myself bored, I played the display one, and watched Brit's dance. At that time I was going to make Brit's dance to run on a competition.
  • Pros: good for learning the moves
  • Cons: not challenging any more after finishing all stages

Britneys Dance Beat

24 April 2003
  • Excerpt: Format: PS2 Price: Around £29.99 Age Range: 3 years + Number of Players: 1 to 2 Dance Mat Recommended, however you can use regular playstation control. After (at 25) having a shot of a friends’ Dance Mat in December, I rushed out and bought my own one, along with one of the other dance mat games. A couple of months ago I bought Britney's Dance Beat and rushed home to play it.
  • Pros: Good Workout, a laugh if you've got your mates round
  • Cons: Only 5 Songs, the button meter confusing if you've played other dance mat games

britneys dull dance beat

  • Excerpt: Due to the lack of games for the playstation dance mat, i decided to give this game a try, even though i dislike Britneys music! The game is really colourful and the graphics are great, the video clips especially. The controls, weather you use the hand controller or the dance mat are easy enough to pick up, though some moves are quite difficult, for example some of the buttons you have to press dont show till the absolute last minute, making it virtually impossible to...
  • Pros: one of the few dance mat games
  • Cons: repetative, annoying

Not worth all the hype

  • Excerpt: With all the publicity, not to mention Britney's fame itself, I expected this game to be very entertaining. Although the game has its good points, after a while gameplay becomes rather boring and very repetitive. The aim of the game is to qualify for a spot as one of Britneys backing dancers. There are 6 dancers to choose from, 3 guys and 3 girls, all with their own unique style.
  • Pros: Gameplay fairly easy to pick up on, lots of features
  • Cons: Dull ending, gets boring after a while
