  • Excerpt: It’s a classic tale, isn’t it’ Good vs Evil, battling it out in the future where everything is made of metal, and you, as a rookie pilot (of sorts) have been drafted to help win the war. Yes, this is Battle Engine Aquila , a game that has been stuck in my mind since I first heard the title way back when. I will begin by getting this out of the way right now, as I see no sense in holding back. The storyline is pretty dire and eminently predictable. There. All done.

Battle Engine Aquila

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: When it comes to presentation, Battle Engine Aquila is average at best. The visuals are nice, and feature some really nice looking effects, but for the most part the game feels average and pales in comparison with other games on the PS2. There's a very cool sci-fi vibe throughout the game, but a definite lack of personal identity. This stems from a lack of unity in the game's graphical presentation.

Battle Engine Aquila – Review

  • Excerpt: Being in the military, I have had the privilege of viewing multiple weapons demonstrations, not to mention the training and use many of these devices. A few of these include the standard M-16A2 assault rifle, the MK-19 Automatic Grenade Launcher, and even the B2 Stealth Bomber. While many of these weapons and vehicles are true attributes to their designers and modern day technology, none have come close to the ideas dreamed up by some of today's anime or videogame...

  • Excerpt: With the Playstation 2 library already as well stocked as an alcoholic's liquor cabinet, it's getting harder and harder to find new, innovative titles on the platform these days. There's already so much out there, it's hard to find something that hasn't been done to death already. Apparently, Lost Toys thought they had a fairly unique idea with Battle Engine Aquila. Apparently, they were right.

Battle Engine Aquila

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: Some multiplayer modes including opposing forces, one-on-one deathmatches or a split screen co-op mode that pushed the PS2 slightly past its limits add to the already decent lifespan of this impressive game. The sameness of the battles might mean that you tire of it before the lengthy war is won though.
  • Pros: Massive battles and an amazing amount of action going on., Aquila is a gorgeous machine.
  • Cons: Amazingly, Aquila isn't waterproof., Rather basic scenery., The game doesn't really make you care about the people you are fighting for.

Battle Engine Aquila -

Futuregamez.net
14 February 2003
  • Summary: Battle Engine Aquila is a game that deserves more credit then it is going to receive. For such as small development team to pump out a game such as this is a remarkable achievement. With over 40 single player missions Battle Engine Aquila will keep you occupied. Then you can start on the multi-player mayhem. This game has to be recommended for action fans.
