  • Summary: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II is very good, but it's certainly not the greatest Action RPG. With solid gameplay mechanics, a relatively long lifespan and a decent multiplayer mode, it should keep RPG fans who are looking for a more action occupied role playing game for weeks, maybe even months.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2

Playstation Illustrated
10 May 2005
  • Excerpt: Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2 uses the same engine as the original, which may be good or bad for some people. The good part is the graphics remain the same and still look nice, but the bad is the camera, which can only be adjusted to two height settings.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II

The Next Level
3 February 2004
  • Excerpt: The dark action-RPG was born with Diablo, and perfected with Diablo II. And until Blizzard makes another action-RPG, Diablo II is the final word on the PC. This is great for everyone who owns a PC, but what about console owners? Hmm.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II

TotalPlayStation.com
16 January 2004
  • Excerpt: I can still remember when Interplay first showed off Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. The hack and slash hit from newcomers Snowblind Studios was such an impressive feat of programming prowess that at first I couldn't believe it was running on PlayStation 2 hardware.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2

Gamecell

  • Conclusion: The problem is that I wanted this game two years ago, and things have moved on a little since then - the need isn't quite as strong now. Still, the game is a nice distraction for the 8-12 hours that it'll take to get through.
  • Pros: Crafting., Top hack and slash action that was loved so much in the first game.
  • Cons: Little improvement over the previous game., Scenery gets in the way too much.
