Tricky but okay game

Kingking , GameStop
25 July 2012
  • Summary: In the beginning of the game, you are a machine, something like a gundam, if anyone has heard of it. It's tricky from the beginning. The games never tells you what the controls are so you have to figure it out yourself, which isn't difficult, if it was like a regular game. Instead of using the joysticks, the game forces you to use L1 and R1 to move left and right and the up and down directional pads to move up and down. You use the left and right to change the angles.

Disapointment

PS1002 , GameStop
3 March 2010
  • Summary: This game looks great, it sounds great, but its not... I first got this game thinking it would be similar to the original psx Armored core's in which turned out to be a HUGE disapointment. I had trouble just doing the very first mission on this cause the weapon damage ratio is so under powered that you cant just blow things up. The game is challenging but I do not want to spend forever on 1 mission.

A blast from the past

warrior of soul calibur , GameStop
11 November 2008
  • Summary: Armored Core 2 is a very challenging and addicting game for Playstation 2 from Agetec. This game is perfect for anyone who loves customizing robots and other kinds of machines. The game starts out with a test to see how your abilities are in battle. If you win, you get full registration into a raven arena (ravens are mercenary armored core pilots) and if you lose, you die.

The old adage of don't-fix-if-it's-not-broke has continued here for Armored Core 2.

  • Conclusion: The story is not that great but AC2 has a variety of game modes and it is a good solid game for your collection, especially if you're into this type of game but for those who aren't into mecha games, you need to look elsewhere.
  • Pros: If you have never played any games from the armored core series, you are in for a treat but if you have played other mecha games, get prepared to get used to some of the nagging mechanics that come with controlling your robot or mech. AC2 is one of the 1st games that came out for the PS2. Being in the batch of the first generation of PS2 games, the graphics are very impressive and the art direction is very vibrant but not entirely original. AC2 does best what AC has d...
  • Cons: While utilizing the Overboost looks really fun, your'll find yourself precharging before Overboost for 10 minutes before you get into the uncontrollable stops as you play through the rest of the game. Since most of your missions are comprised of sneak and destroy or covert operations you'll find yourself using this ability less and less. But in the arenas (where you'll fight ACs 1 on 1), it is really useful. Most of the time though I use it just because it looks so da...

Armored Core 2

coverthitman, epinions.com
17 March 2004
  • Summary: I can't really recommend it, but it was very close to being a good game. With more players and maybe some tighter controls, this could be good.
  • Pros: Decent story line, in-depth customization
  • Cons: sub-par graphics and sound, little replay value, bad multiplayer.

A mecha version of Gran Turismo.

james gonzalez, MobyGames
7 June 2003
  • Conclusion: If you feel like blowing up stuff, have a challenge when fighting other ACs, and have time on your hands, Armored Core 2 is just for you.
  • Pros: What's great about this is that you can customize your AC with hundreds of parts. There are 50 missions altogether, and 54 AC pilots you can challenge.
  • Cons: Paying for ammo and repairs in almost all missions. No damage effects, and you have one way to melee attack.
