Arc the Lad: End of Darkness
2 November 2005
Excerpt: Traditionally, the Arc the Lad series hasn't broken much new ground in the RPG genre. It's stuck with the norm and generally done a great job with it. The series' latest installment, Arc the Lad: End of Darkness , takes a different approach and includes an online multiplayer mode and action-based combat system.
Excerpt: If I never have to hit my X button again, I will be a happy man. Between scrolling through dialogue and hack 'n' slashing my way through this game, my X button will need a long vacation. You begin your journey through this session of Arc the Lad as Edda, a young boy with a rather standard anime look.
Conclusion: An above-average RPG experience loses all the things that made it entertaining and in the process makes it purely average in nearly every way. This is a horrible way to reuse the assets from a game that was legitimately entertaining.
