Flashes of Brilliance

Jared Epstein-Peterson "Petersonic", Amazon
22 June 2001
  • Summary: This game shows fleeting glimpses of greatness, but more often then not, is clumsy. Defensive controls are clunky and awkward, and the flashy plays that the computer puts on are nearly impossible for a human player to accomplish, because of way-too-small camera angles in the field, SLOW fielders and clumsy controls. These faults make games uncompetitive very early and the games become dull as each inning is more redundant than the last.

Alright

Ryan Hankey, Amazon
18 June 2001
  • Summary: Graphics are pretty cool, new stadiums, mascots, and the players really look like themselves. But hitting is so hard, and fielding is even harder. When I thought I hit a ball deep in the gap the computer gets there in no time and even dives. On the otherhand I can never get there fast enough. Plyers are very slow. You can throw a guy out at first from the outfield sometimes. I have played 7 full games and have only won once. Trying to Hit is really frustrating.

Best out of the (un)holy trinity

Dwayne Jenkins, Amazon
7 May 2001
  • Summary: I'll end the debate of "best baseball game around": ASB2002 is the best out of the bunch. Being a pretty hard-core baseball buff myself, i eagerly anticipated the release of this year's baseball games for PS2. I had previously been hooked on Triple Play 2001 for PS1, and i couldn't wait for TP to come out in PS2. When i played it, i quite honestly enjoyed it.

Good game but could have been better....

  • Summary: Being a big baseball fan and fan of the PS2 I was really excited about buying this game. I have heard positive things about the game, but I had to buy it for myself. I am going to be honest with you, hitting is very difficult in this game but so is hitting a 90 mph fast ball in reality. Playing against the computer is hard but winning every game you play makes game play boring.

How great the game is depends on the player...

Kevin Witenko, Amazon
2 April 2001
  • Summary: Ok, about 95% of the time I recommend a player to rent a game before they play it, merely because it's hard to judge whether or not the game would appeal to all users. I'm going to do it again, because this may be the best baseball game to some, while others may simply hate it. Here is my take on the game: I'm a Triple Play fan, but I bought this over TP merely because of the great reviews I saw. Some were justified, others were left out.

this game is ..........

Amazon
30 March 2001
  • Summary: only ok. it could have been much better. the positives: the game is realistic and a true baseball simulation. the graphics are pretty good and the controls generally are smooth. it also has high re-play value the bad: very limited options. on the back of the box you are led to believe that this game has lots of options. sure there are 7 camera angles, but you cant control them. the 7 angles automatically appear depending on where the ball is hit.

asb2k2 = fair

Amazon Customer "jdubbb", Amazon
18 March 2001
  • Summary: the game looks great on the box and in the reviews, but when u play it there's just something missing. it's okay, but nothing more than that. the stats, draft and season are great, but the actually gameplay is only so so. i like the sim type games sports games where i can have my own seaon, make trades, follow the league leaders and try to win the title and when i look at the game description for asb2k2 i start to drool.

  • Summary: This game is okay because it's not too easy oor too hard, has decemt graphics GREAT Detail! Right down to the advertisements! Especcially my favorite park of themall YANKEE STADIUM!Good anamation, but not nearly perfect.BETTER than high heat 2004!(the overall game). What ASB 03 and ASB 04 dont have is Tony Gwynn and Paulie Oniell and Big MAC and other guys like that. Also theres a Hall of Fame Team (only living ledgends) (plus Catfish Hunter).
