All Star Baseball 2002 (PS2)

Digital Sportspage

  • Excerpt: Acclaim produced one of the N64's best sports games when it released All-Star Baseball 2001 last year. Hopes were high that they could recapture that magic on the PS2. They did a good job in most areas, but a few things were left unfinished.

All-Star Baseball 2002

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: In past years, Acclaim has not been well known for their graphics in sports, so I wasn't really expecting much from this department. However, I must say I was fairly impressed with the debut of All-Star Baseball 2002 . The overall look of the game was what caught my eye. Stadiums were mimicked to perfection, complete with the waterfalls in Kauffman Stadium and Bernie Brewer's Slide in Miller Park.

  • Conclusion: All-Star Baseball 2002 for the PS2 is a decent, but not great, baseball title. The batting and pitching interfaces are good, as is the statistical engine. The graphics are clean, but camera flaws ruin the fielding in the game. If you're a sim fanatic, the game will surely disappoint. However, if you like more of an arcade baseball game, then All-Star Baseball 2002 certainly may make you happy.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
10 April 2001
  • Excerpt: Originally exclusive to the Nintendo 64, All Star Baseball is one magnificent series of baseball games. Acclaim's first attempt at a baseball game proved to be better than anything out there. All Star Baseball featured decent 64-bit visuals and excellent baseball gameplay, with simulation aspects far above any other baseball title. Triple Play, while a great looking game, leaned more towards arcade and pseudo gameplay, with its homer-happy batting system.
