Excerpt: It might as well be the real thing. This game is one of the best flight simulators on the Playstation since it rose to power over all the other consoles on the earth. Basically this game incorporates the best aircraft in the world and puts them and you (the pilot) in a fictional war torn world.
Pros: Extremly acurate aircraft and weapon systems . Producers have certainly done their home work
Cons: Terrain is pretty vague at times and the two player is rather dull
Excerpt: After watching Tom Cruiseperform daring stunts and beat the bad guys against all odds during the eighties - I've always wanted to be a Top Gun. Now's my chance - Ace Combat allows you to fulfil all your Jet Fuel inspired dreams.
Pros: Great for fans of the genre and those who just like to blast - instantly accessible with plenty of depth and a gripping story
Cons: a little repetive at times - can be quite difficult to master . 2 Player option needs improving
Excerpt: Ace Combat:Distant Thunder is the fourth game in the series and the first on PlayStation 2. I had only played the original and missed out numbers 2 & 3. I used to like the original, back when the Psone was released.
Pros: Photo - realistic planes and landscapes
Cons: Slightly repetetive . More arcadey than flight sim
Excerpt: Something you might not know about me, guys - I like planes. No, not to the extent that I would be willing to spend six months in a Greek prison just for a couple of snapshots of an F-16 in my Kodak fun camera, but I freely admit to being an aviation enthusiast.
Summary: Proving that consoles can handle flight simulators just as well as PC's, Ace Combat 4 is truly a masterpiece. The missions are well sculpted and presented beautifully and there are plenty of secrets to unlock from extra difficulty settings that keep true aces on their feet to the x-02 aurora fighter...
Summary: This is a truly good game. It has an interesting plot line, good controls, exciting missions and radio chatter from both allies and enemies. However, if you want that, get the next game, Ace Combat Squadron Leader (Also known as Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. It has all this and more.
Summary: As a flight sim fan i jumped at the chance to play this on the PS2, as so far i had found nothing to challenge or excite me, until trying this game. The graphics are superb with every detail covered, the aircraft are of a varied choice, but very limited in the weapon capabilities.
Summary: Welcome to the future, a powerful gun array originally designed to shoot down a meteor is captured by the Eursean military force to gain air supremacy by using it as an anti-aircraft weapon. The Independent States Allied Force (ISAF) has been beaten into a corner with no hope of victory, until now.
Summary: Ace combat blends a mix of great graphics, a cool storyline and brilliant gameplay and pulls it off superbly. The other planes are detailed brilliantly, enemy AI is outstanding and there's tons to do.
