Triple Play 2001

Playstation Illustrated
6 April 2000
  • Excerpt: Very Nice! The graphics in EA Sports' Triple Play 2001 are very nicely rendered in 3D. There is a small amount of clipping noticeable when there is both a base runner and an infielder on the same base, but this is not a 'Major League error.' The players themselves are great and the stadiums are extremely accurate in detail (as far as I can tell). The sounds of the game are exactly what you would expect from the everlasting quality of EA Sports.

PSX Extreme

  • Excerpt: When EA Sports released their Triple Play 2000 last year, most of the industry was blown away. It was by far the most visually enhanced PS sports title ever, and to this day it still is. The title featured some of the smoothest and most realistic looking athletes that the PS has ever done, the facial expressions were a definite plus and the commentary was to die for.

Triple Play 2001

  • Conclusion: Triple Play 2001 is a great all-around baseball game for both simulation and arcade fans. While some sim fans may dislike the arcade elements, there are plenty of simulation aspects, realistic behaviors, and stats included to please most hardcore baseball fans. Besides, what other baseball game allows you to play as Babe Ruth and break windows and destroy television sets (using colossal home runs as your weapon) in a realistically modeled living room "stadium"?
