After choosing your team, you get to choose your car sponser, who will supply you with a newer and better set of wheels as you race for victory. Of course, the teams each have their own difficulty and a new set of courses to race behind them. The car sponsers come in two driving types: Grip and Drift.

  • Excerpt: The fourth installment in the Ridge Racer series has been released. The game is also being hailed as one of the greatest racers yet, and it is. Ridge Racer games are based on cars that were created by Namco, so you will never see a Corvette, Ferrari or any other "real-life" sports car.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 – Review

  • Excerpt: When the original Ridge Racer was released on the then newborn PlayStation, it impressed me as a graphical wonder and was an excellent showcase for the system. However, I was then a Nintendo loyalist so I didn't admit my opinion of the game too loudly. In fact, I avoided the game and the PlayStation like the plague.

R4: Ridge Racer Type 4

Playstation Illustrated

  • Excerpt: R4: Ridge Racer Type 4 is a very pretty game. While the cars themselves come in a close second to Gran Turismo in appearance, the racetracks are very detailed and beautiful. Also, they hold together perfectly as fast as you can go. I didn't see any pop-in at all. The music is very uptempo... and very Namco. Everywhere you look, you'll see reference to Namco games of years gone by.

  • Conclusion: Bottom line: Der er en helstøbt fornemmelse over R4 , lige fra introen over designet til selve gameplayet.

  • Pros: Músicas excelentes. Mistura estilos como Drum’n’bass e Acid Jazz. Perfeitos para a pilotagem virtual;, Jogabilidade mais fácil que tirar o doce de uma criança;, Reiko Nagase. Que belo amontoado de pixels em forma de mulher!;
