Summary: Quake II is the Playstation port of a classic FPS PC game. As far home ports of Quake II go this would have to be the best available and it is something of an impressive technical feat given the limitations of the original Playstations hardware. Quake II is a game from ID the developers who also made the Doom the first game to really put first person perspective shooters on the gaming map, and like Doom Quake can be considered among the true classics.
Pros: Great (for the time) graphics and near non-stop action
Cons: A couple of minor bugs but nothing too serious
Summary: Beyond Atlantis II places you in the middle of a desert where you find the portal to finding the Mystery that is Atlantis. As a young archaeologist you search for the ancient metropolis built by the Egyptians. Your journey will occur in the ancient Egyptian world, the prehistoric times, and Arabian surroundings as both a man and a woman. Dreamcatcher, the Adventure company has issued the game in 2001 as a sequel to Beyond Atlantis.
Pros: good graphics, easy controls, intriguing puzzles
Summary: Quake 2 is a highly enjoyable first person perspective shooter and it is playable in a single user mode. However, in my experience of the game, the best way to play this game is on a network. You get double the enjoyment playing on a network, when the people you are playing against on this network are people you actually know and trust. In the deathmatch mode, basically you just have to kill as many people as possible without getting killed yourselves.
Pros: Excellent graphics, easy to pick up, lots of weapons to choose from, lots of bloodshed!!!
Summary: This game is still very revolutionary to this day. It has not only recieved numerous awards, but it has been the foundation of numerous modifications, or "mods" that make people play to this very day. It's great single-player game play alone has single-handedly garnered the game countless awards, but much of the success in the game is due to great stability in multi-player, excellent graphics, and solid feel overall.
Excerpt: "Quake 2 is the best first-person shooter I have ever played. I guess I should buy Quake 3! Having played Quake 1 (the gypsy-esque shareware version) on my PC, and experienced deathmatch first-hand against my friend, I went out and bought QII for the PSX as soon as i could. It was platinum, and from the multi player mode alone I knew I would be getting great value for money. I was not dissapointed at all. The single player mode proved difficult for ...
Excerpt: "Quake 2 After playing and very much enjoying Unreal tournament on my PC, I decided the playstation couldn’t possibly match his! A couple of weeks later I was playing on my friends playstation, when he brought long quake 2. I was playing Duke Nukem at the time and refused to believe quake was better, despite his persistent reassurances. It took all of 3 minutes to decide that I had found the game I had been looking for! The game The ...
Excerpt: "I was truly amazed that a half decent fps shooter could be done on the psx. I mean 2meg and 33mhz is not particularly impressive compared to the 16meg 200mhz minimum pcs that first played it. Thats not to say its perfect but all its faults are down to the limitations of the console. The game pauses between subsections to load new level data. This happens a lot but is understandable and although irritating its not too bad. But actual gameplay is ...
Pros: A great technical achievement and a very playable game .
Excerpt: "Quake2 one of my fav games on the playstation. Guns, blood and fun. Quake2 is a first person shoot, you can play a one player game against alien creatures using your wit and strength against the computer or use the guns supplied throughout the levels to blow your mates head apart. Even better buy a multitap and you and three friends can do battle to the death by any means, to kill kill kill and more importantly survive. The one player mode ...
Pros: Nice weapons, blood and guts, good fast fighting, great multiplayer game .
Summary: There are lots of shoot em ups on the PSone and there is one that is very underrated and its name, Quake II. Quake II is a brilliant game but not many people talk about it, as there was not any hype, which I think is not fair. A lot of people bought for example Duke Nukem: Time to Kill which is nowhere near as good but there was hype about it so it sold a lot more copies.
Summary: Quake 2 is absolutly brilliant. With different levels, zones, and choice you can't go far wrong. Quake 2 is a shoot'em up game and has excellent graphics. You can have up to 4 player on multiplayer. On one player you work you way through levels. on these levels you collect different objects and weapons. Throughout the game are passages and areas which are hard to find. There are lots of people to kill (i mean lots).
Pros: just plain good fun!
Cons: Blood and gore (unless your into that stuff like me)
