Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag – Freedom Cry Review – PlayStation 4

Game Chronicles
19 January 2014
  • Excerpt: What’s a pirate to do when all the booty has been plundered, all the enemy ships have been sunk, and all the rum has been drunk?   Well, you can sit around the bar reminiscing about the “good ole days” over a pint and a game of checkers or Nine Men’s Morris or you can fire up Freedom Cry, the first DLC content package for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and see what your quartermaster, Adewale was up to after you and he parted ways near the end of the main game.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Review – Xbox One

Game Chronicles
19 January 2014
  • Excerpt: It’s ironic that the best Assassin’s Creed game in the series to date has the least to do with the core premise upon which the franchise was founded. Sure, there are Assassins and Templars, cool hooded cloaks, fancy parkour moves, swords, pistols, and even that blue/red/gold instinctual hunter vision mode, but this latest installment in the series has much more up its sleeve than just a pair of deadly wrist blades.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

EL33TONLINE
16 January 2014
  • Excerpt: As near as I can tell, general fan reaction to the Assassin’s Creed series hit its zenith with Assassin’s Creed II: Brotherhood and seemed to level out with Revelations, before taking a rather precipitous dive with the release of Assassin’s Creed III – a game that all but the hardcore fans found underwhelming.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Defunct Games
6 January 2014
  • Summary: Man the cannons and brace for impact, because Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is here to blow up any preconceived notions you had about the annual franchise. With a great cast of characters and a huge world to explore, this next-generation sequel is the best installment since Assassin's Creed II. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag

  • Excerpt: If you have played Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag on either the PlayStation 3 or the XBox 360 and own one of the next-gen consoles, then there’s no real reason to upgrade. However if you missed the game and now own the PlayStation 4, than Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag is a truly amazing ride on this next-gen console, arguably making it (again) the most defined version of Assassin’s Creed to date.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag

Thunderbolt Games
4 January 2014
  • Excerpt: Hands up if you’ve grown tired of the Assassin’s Creed franchise over the past few years. There’s probably a lot of you. After progressive sequels in the shape of Assassin’s Creed II and Brotherhood , the yearly cycle of historical hood-wearing and neck stabbing began to grow stale. Revelations didn’t introduce the kind of refreshing changes seen in the previous two sequels and Assassin’s Creed III was a dull, glitchy disappointment despite the occasional thrill.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Destructoid
23 December 2013
  • Summary: Assassin's Creed IV was quite the ride. Bringing new meaning to the phrase "a pirate's life for me," it was such a step up from the third entry that many fans are now clamoring for a full-on pirate spinoff series. Honestly? I wouldn't mind that one bit, so long as it was every other year -- Black Flag was that good. Until that day comes however you can enjoy an additional campaign compliments of Edward's former Quartermaster.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Freedom Cry Review

Hardcore Shooter
19 December 2013
  • Conclusion: Recommended for any Assassin’s Creed player, even if you don’t have a season pass.
  • Pros: ○ Adé is a great Assassin ○ Inexpensive ○ New equipment is a good addition
  • Cons: ○ Critical path is a bit short ○ Eavesdropping missions ○ Open world is kind of empty
