Summary: I had read some reviews on XCOM before but was still pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this game. Unlike the original, this take on the series is part strategy / part turn based action that has you directing your squad like an RTS in the field to complete objectives while researching in your home base outside of missions to further the story.
Summary: So you spend hours crafting a squad you know them by name you talk to them sounding like a crazy person to everyone else. You take so much time moving your squad into position you have all the angles set up and your finally ready to attack the accuracy is 83% its you last move for the turn, You take the shot it misses, The next turn ends up with one dead and two wounded. You feel dumb and sad and you sigh in disgust and confusion thinking who the hell is good at this.
Summary: A throw back to the days of command and conquer. This game is turn based and a natural fit for anyone who grew up loving games like C & C, Dune, and role playing games like Shadowrun. The game is not easy. One misstep and half your team will most likely not make it home. Once they are dead....they are dead. You must also build facilities to reverse engineer alien weaponry so it can be adapted for your use, house prisoners, house fighter jets and flying saucers.
