Summary: Remember back in the glory days of your youth when you and a few friends would recklessly re-enact moves you saw in the WWF ring that Saturday morning? That’s right, it was WWF back then. You’d work on your entrances, maybe pick out your favorite House of Pain tune to jump around to on your trampoline as you messily tried to dropkick your fat friend. Well those days are back in virtual form, eliminating the dangers of broken elbows from trampoline mishaps (we hope).
Summary: Smackdown v. Raw 2009
is actually pretty fun. I haven’t picked up a wrestling title in years, yet this one managed to sneak its way into heavy gaming rotation. The Road to Wrestlemania mode is great, although I wish they had more storylines to play through. Career Mode is boring and feels wasted. Wrestling fans probably already have this one. Other people may want to give this game a look.
Pros: Fun multiplayer, Good variety of matches, Road to Wrestlemania mode
Cons: No old-timers, Control scheme isn't explained well and turns into button mashing, Career Mode is boring and bland, especially when compared to the Road to Wrestlemania mode
Summary: WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 will unleash a new tag team experience, allowing players to build momentum and attributes, eliminate opponents with high impact double teams and finishers, as well as get the “hot tag” for the win.
Excerpt: THQ’s Smackdown series has been laying it down ever since the days of Blasto, but lately the franchise has gone through some hard knocks.
