WET (PS3)

EL33TONLINE
26 October 2009
  • Excerpt: I will be the first to admit that the girl in me always gravitates towards female lead characters (Lara Croft being a case in point), so I was intrigued to give WET a go. But other than Lara and Rubi both being female lead videogame characters, the similarity ends there.

  • Excerpt: WET is one of the many games that were left in tango after the Vivendi-Activision merger. It was cut by Activision, but eventually picked up by Bethesda Softworks, a publisher not known to put out games like WET. Bethesda allowed Artificial Mind and Movement additional time, and delayed the game from its original December 2008 release, to its September 2009 release.

Wet

GameTrailers
18 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Wet is an action game fronted by an admittedly badass lead character. Its grindhouse, cult-cinema vibe sets it apart from any other recent action title, and it has more slow-motion, twin-pistol gunplay than anything this side of John Woo's Stranglehold. It's a game that's trying very hard to be awesome, but can this tough girl make the cut? Wet's story is inspired by '70s exploitation flicks, or at least Quentin Tarantino's interpretation of the genre.

Wet review

Gameplanet
19 October 2009
  • Excerpt: The game plays just like a movie as you hack, slash and wall-run your way through the game in control of Rubi, a sexy female assassin. Over-the-top acrobatics and slow motion moves allow for some pretty high levels of gore. Unfortunately it's all been done before, and WET doesn't really seem to do much of it overly well.
  • Pros: Pretty excellent movement and acrobatic controls. The film presentation style. Some great environments and graphics.
  • Cons: Below average aiming and targeting. Multiplier and points scoring gameplay. Story doesn't really pull you in.

WET 360, PS3 Review

DarkZero
12 October 2009
  • Excerpt: Women in video games, eh? For all the advancement of our precious medium over the last few decades – on technical, aesthetic and artistic levels – we still can’t really do believable female protagonists. At least, not with any consistency. Most people are still happy to start blabbering on about Lara Croft being a positive female role model, mind you – while people who actually know anything about games (or positive female role models) will more likely bring up the likes...

Wet (PS3 Review)

Game Hub
16 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Rubi: a hired gun, thief, errant son deliverer, car roof surfer, the works, with no questions asked. Along as said ‘Wet work’ involves shooting in slow-motion, wall-running, diving, sliding around on her knees (stop it) and stabbing things a lot. Gameplay wise it’s PS2-era Prince of Persia meets Stranglehold .
