Virtua Tennis 3 is a great game featuring some new minigames. The career mode is better and basically simple. You can create your player, male or female using the game's character editor. Then you start on your 20-year quest, from the 300th-ranked player to the top-ranked player in the world. Now before all else you have to start training your player which is done by going to tennis school or by playing minigames. Going to tennis school is a great way to strengthen your player’s capabilities. You’ll be given tasks, and if you can do the task three times in the given time limit, you'll increase your skills. Tennis school is fun, but the minigames are fantastic. Each minigame focuses on one of four aspects of your game: ground stroke, serve, volley, and footwork. In Avalanche you collect fruit and dodge large tennis balls. In Drum Topple, you try and knock over stacked oil drums by hitting ground strokes. Prize Defender places you in front of a table filled with prizes which you have to protect against shots from the ball machines. In Pin Crusher, you must knock down bowling pins with your serve. Each of the minigames starts easy, but as you progress, they become tougher. The sound and the visuals are good; the courts are filled with fans and look fantastic. Attention is given to simple detail. Reviewers find that most gamers are delighted especially as they can set up their own online tournaments which they find exciting.
