Summary: Most of the points I'd make about VC have been covered by other reviewers, so I'll just touch on a few things I think are important: The first few missions in the game progress pretty swiftly, as you guide 2-4 characters through some short maps as you get the hang of things. Then all of a sudden you're given a bunch of new menus for the 20+ characters added to your squad, each of whom have strengths and weaknesses (though thankfully all members in a class level up...
Summary: Valkyria Chronicles tries something new by mixing the Turn-Based Stategy genre with the now very common Third-Person Style shooter. The game carries that innovation well, but unfortunately it ends up not adding very much to the formula. In most games, as you progress through the game, you get new tools or abilities to play with, in Valkyria Chronicles, you start off having 5 different classes and a tank. You don't get much more throughout the game.
Quirky turn-based combat good, appalling story and characters bad.

Summary: So much is potentially good in this game (despite some occasionally odd behaviour in combat around who can attack and when), unfortunately the characters are the least appealing of just about any JRPG I've played. I may be getting old or something but they seem *especially* childish and juvenile, which is saying a lot given the genre...
Summary: The game is a turn-based strategy game, somewhat similar to the old UFO or fallout games where you can spend points to move or attack and position yourself. I enjoyed this game very much in the early stages, but it's getting quite repetitive. Although they do vary the battles to the point that some of them become fresh, I'm afraid you pretty much do the same thing over and over. One major problem with this game is the horrible music.
