  • Excerpt: I always root for the underdog. Whenever I see a fight, I place my bet on the little guy. As much as I enjoy the brutal, naked truth shown in nature programs, I always cheer for the prey. That was the first thing Sega did right with Valkyria Chronicles . They wisely walked the line between empowerment and disadvantage by giving you a small but capable militia, a tiny fraction of a meager military, to command against an imperial army.

Valkyria Chronicles

Strategy Informer

  • Conclusion: But despite the galling AI, for me, Valkyria Chronicles is one of the best games released this year, which was a pleasant surprise. Whether you’re usually a fan of SRPG’s or not it is packed full of so much charm, memorable moments and believable, loveable characters, backed up by a touching story, I would recommend you to go out and buy it now. No seriously, do it.

Valkyria Chronicles PS3 Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Valkyria Chronicles fits snugly into the strategy genre, but nonetheless it’s hardly your regular chess like thinking mans game. It requires the forethought of chess, but has the intensity of a shooter, whilst the beautiful watercolour style visuals further give the game its own identity. Being a strategy RPG, Valkyria Chronicles has quite a substantial tale to tell and it’s quite a story.

Valkyria Chronicles: Challenges from Team Edy (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
19 March 2010
  • Excerpt: Since this is a review of a downloadable episode (hereafter referred to as DLC), I am going to quickly define exactly what each score pertains to. Presentation will be mostly dependent on story, voice acting, and use of already established visual presentation. Gameplay is dependent on the amount of strategy used in the missions provided. Value is based on the episode’s average playtime, price of the DLC, and variety of gameplay in the episode.

Valkyria Chronicles DLC

Saving Progress
29 April 2009
  • Conclusion: For $4.99, that is one heck of a deal - if you’re Wookie-punchin’-tough enough. All combined, the three Valkyria Chronicles DLC packs are a good value for fifteen bucks. Edy’s mission doesn’t stand quite as squarely on its own two feet as Behind Her Blue Flame , but along with Hard EX Mode the total package is exactly what Sega set out to deliver: a service to the fans.

  • Excerpt: An Anime Version of WWII Now that the holidays are over the console market is experiencing its annual post-Christmas drought. With the massive influx of games as presents, only a rare few, true gamers would actually want to go shopping for more. For those of you who finished all of yours, or if you only got coal in your stocking, you might want to consider checking out Valkyria Chronicles for the Playstation 3.

Valkyria Chronicles review (PS3)

HonestGamers
8 January 2009
  • Excerpt: looks like a water color painting in motion. Whoever made this artistic decision is a genius, because watercolors make anything look amazing, whether it be a stream or a pile of rocks, and here you’re seeing whole countrysides and full out warfare. The baleful music and the beautiful art blend together to create a nostalgic feel that leaves you coming back for the same broken mechanics and repetitious dialogue.
