Tomb Raider meets James Bond in teen action game.

Common Sense Media
24 July 2008
  • Summary: Parents need to know that this game has plenty of shooting and cursing. That said, neither the violence nor the language pushes the envelope, but be aware there's frequent curse words (s--t, a--hole, God damn, son of a bitch, etc.) and you can shoot enemies -- who are human -- in the leg or arm or head (which will result in a different animation). When the player is shot, a blood red border fills the screen to tell the player death is near.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Game Boyz
19 June 2008
  • Excerpt: After much anticipation since the game was originally announced back at E3 2006, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune finally arrives on the PS3. As the release date loomed, I have to admit several concerns surfaced on my part. For one, I could not help but wonder if this would be another Lair or Heavenly Sword, which delivered lots of sizzle but little steak.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) Review

411mania.com
13 June 2008
  • Excerpt: It’s finally here! Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune has been hyped as the killer Playstation 3 exclusive this Christmas. Long before the game came out, many gaming websites where comparing the game to Tomb Raider, Prince of Persia and even Gears of War. That is good company to be in. Does the game stand up to the hype? Yes and no.

Break it Down

  • Excerpt: Summary Introduction Review Running and Gunning Jumping Around (Platforming) Story and Environment Conclusion Areas of Improvement Bonus (End of Game) Summary [7.5 out of 10] Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is a diamond smeared with peanut butter. Uncharted oozes polish from every pore except for shooting mechanics… and unfortunately for it, shooting makes up more than 1/2 your time in this adventure.

Expert Review

  • Excerpt: Ready for the holiday season comes one of the last big hitters for Sony, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Coming from the studio that brought Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter this is really something. This is a massive departure from the normal titles that the studio has turned out. Both Crash and Jak & Daxter are as far away from reality as you could possibly get, but Uncharted is the complete opposite, at least in terms of setting.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune

Saving Progress
27 November 2007
  • Conclusion: Naughty Dog took a risk with Uncharted . They could have turned out another Jak and it would have come out just fine. New IP is almost always good and Uncharted is very close to being a great game. The inevitable sequel needs to pick a genre and stick to it, and not have Drake complaining all the time. As it sits right now, this is just another good, albeit great-looking action game when it very well could have been a classic.
