Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Playstation Illustrated
30 September 2009
  • Excerpt: In the gaming world, it goes without saying that most titles based on a licensed property or film usually don't turn out so great. Some of them feel sloppy and rushed, while others are terrible in every aspect of their execution.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Auracore MediaWorks
3 September 2009
  • Summary: Ladies and gentlemen, here is the rare game that's better than the movie it's based on.
  • Pros: Fun destructive gameplay; solid controls that allow for seamless transforming; excellent multiplayer; decent variety of missions; two single player campaigns; decent replay value; good graphics and animation.
  • Cons: Somewhat on the shallow side; steep learning curve on the controls; awful voice acting; no real storyline in either campaign; lame unskippable cutscenes; environments are not completely destructible.

The Transformers Get Redemption

GIN
5 August 2009
  • Excerpt: When I played the original Transformers movie game back in 2007, I had two things against it. One, I was playing it on the Wii which made the stupid mistake of using the Wiimote to control both melee combat and the camera at the same time, leading to an exercise in frustration.

Expert Review

GamingNexus
3 August 2009
  • Summary: I’m not a big fan of licensed games, since the majority of them are usually awful, and after seeing the new movie my expectations for the tie-in game dropped even further. I’m sorry Mr.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (PS3)

EL33TONLINE
13 July 2009
  • Excerpt: Just like the Michael Bay produced blockbuster film of the same name, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen delivers non-stop action and plenty of explosions. Add rumble to the mix and you are truly in for a treat.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (PS3) - Review

VGChartz

While living overseas, I would watch recorded episodes of the old series, and I have seen the animated movie upwards of 30 or 40 times. So when a chance comes around to play a game starring my favorite robots, I can’t pass it up.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Evergeek
6 July 2009
  • Excerpt: Though Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 doesn't score many points for originality, does nothing to redefine, reinvent or elevate the 3rd-person action/shooter/brawler genre, and generally isn't even particularly good, it does manage to scream "authenticity" like...

Despite a slow start and some lingering issues, Revenge of the Fallen really makes it fun to be a Transformer.

GameSpot
24 June 2009
  • Summary: Imagine what it would be like to become a Transformer. Walking, jumping, and climbing in your humanoid form would be pretty familiar, and you could easily get the hang of whipping out your guns to blast enemies.

  • Cons: Controls are tough to get the hang of, Environmental hang-ups are prevalent, Some movement issues linger throughout, Uneven voice acting
