Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen PS3 Review

Console Obsession
29 May 2010
  • Excerpt: Licensed games aren’t necessarily targeted towards the more avid of gamers. Such games are often free of challenge and devoid of the invention that so many gamers seek. But on the whole, for the less demanding they do their job (at least to an adequate level) of allowing those fresh from perhaps seeing a movie to not only take charge of characters, but also allow them to relive and be personally involved in memorable moments from them.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Review

VideoGamer.com
23 November 2009
  • Excerpt: I've yet to see the latest Transormers movie, having had my hopes dashed by friends claiming it's a huge disappointment. As a life-long fan of the original cartoon and comics the first big-budget Michael Bay movie managed to tick most of the right boxes, but the game failed on almost every count. Activision claimed to be righting many of the wrongs found in the 2007 game, so my hopes were raised. Could Revenge of the Fallen actually be pretty good?

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

The Gamers Temple

  • Excerpt: Stop. Before you read any further, I have a confession to make. I actually had fun playing Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I know what you're thinking; this is a movie-based game that has scored particularly low across most of the Internet, and it's probably fuel to the "every licensed game sucks" fire. Well, you're almost right – almost.

Review: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (Sony PS3)

Diehard GameFAN
18 October 2009
  • Summary: Luxoflux had a tall order after the disaster that is the Transformers gaming history. I find the game to be a ton of fun and I feel it is the best game that Transformers fans have gotten to date. Casual fans may want to wait until it drops in price, but there’s enough in the game between the single player and multiplayer to keep people interested for awhile. There hasn’t been any real word on DLC for the game, so right now it’s what you see is what you get.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Playstation Illustrated
17 October 2009
  • Excerpt: In the gaming world, it goes without saying that most titles based on a licensed property or film usually don't turn out so great. Some of them feel sloppy and rushed, while others are terrible in every aspect of their execution. It takes a while for a good one to come along, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is the most recent of them. It's a good action movie tie-in that is easy to enjoy once you look past its horrible first impression.

Revenge of the LOLin'

TotalPlayStation.com
8 September 2009
  • Conclusion: The game is glitchy, dull, and kinda broken. The game never comes together as a full game, but rather a fragmented mess of scrap metal and motor oil. Unless you are a completionist and enjoy the timed challenge, you won't find much to this game.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Auracore MediaWorks
3 September 2009
  • Summary: Ladies and gentlemen, here is the rare game that's better than the movie it's based on.
  • Pros: Fun destructive gameplay; solid controls that allow for seamless transforming; excellent multiplayer; decent variety of missions; two single player campaigns; decent replay value; good graphics and animation.
  • Cons: Somewhat on the shallow side; steep learning curve on the controls; awful voice acting; no real storyline in either campaign; lame unskippable cutscenes; environments are not completely destructible.

  • Summary: Transformers Revenge of the Fallen doesn’t quite capture the feel of the movie, but it tries too hard to be a movie game.

The Transformers Get Redemption

GIN
5 August 2009
  • Excerpt: When I played the original Transformers movie game back in 2007, I had two things against it. One, I was playing it on the Wii which made the stupid mistake of using the Wiimote to control both melee combat and the camera at the same time, leading to an exercise in frustration. Second, even with that frustration out of the way it was a shallow, unexciting game to play and I lost interest in a matter of minutes.
