Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PS3) Review

411mania.com
5 September 2012
  • Summary: Overall, Fall of Cybertron is still one of the better Transformer games the franchise has ever seen. If you are a Transformer fan or if you just like awesome battling robots than this is definitely one to check out. High Moon Studios does a great job of being both fans of the classic franchise and characters while also delivering a great game where you can play as robots that transform into vehicles.

  • Excerpt: When I attended a preview event for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron back in February, the one thought that kept running through my mind was, "Damn. Those guys from High Moon Studios know their Transformers." Regular readers of this site know just how deeply I've dug into the property over the last few years, reviewing nearly every Transformers game and DVD to hit the market since 2005 or so.

  • Excerpt: Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is developer High Moon Studios' newest title and a direct sequel to 2010's surprise hit Transformers: War for Cybertron . The new title makes numerous advances over its predecessor, and even with its lack of cooperative campaign, manages to be the superior shooter.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron (PS3)

  • Excerpt: The story picks up shortly after War for Cybertron with the Autobots resigned to leave their home world to the Decepticons and they’ve taken to space in the Ark.  The action starts as the Decepticons attack our fleeing heroes in a ship of their own.  In a bit of Tarantino-esque storytelling, this opening actually takes place late in the game, and at the conclusion of this Bumblebee-centric level you’re sent back to the actual beginning of the story and handed the...
  • Pros: Fast and enjoyable combat.  A story that does more than check off boxes.
  • Cons: Multiplayer, however, lives to check boxes.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron review

Gamedot
6 September 2012
  • Conclusion: You can tell from playing Transformers: Fall of Cybertron that it has been made by a developer who cares about the future of this series and has carefully crafted a great shooter that remains true to the fans, whilst being able to open a new chapter in the series. Overall this is an excellent shooter that has enough here to please all and High Moon studios have achieved the seemingly impossible, a Transformers game that you can look forward to playing instead of...
  • Pros: Excellent shooting gameplay. Solid multiplayer. Epic storyline. A visual treat. Action packed campaign mode.
  • Cons: Lack of enemy HUD. Short time with Dinobots in campaign.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron Review

AusGamers
3 September 2012
  • Conclusion: Returning for good measure is the Escalation mode, essentially like horde mode in Gears or if you prefer, standing around in the Facility level of N64 Goldeneye shooting wave after wave of Russian soldiers while refusing to finish the level. But luckily Escalation is much more involved, with up to four players and a real advantage in working together as a team.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron
