Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Review

VideoGamer.com
21 December 2008
  • Excerpt: Cries of "It's just Rainbow Six Vegas 1.5" were heard across the gaming community when Ubisoft announced its follow-up to Rainbow Six Vegas, and in many ways the community was right. Vegas 2 is incredibly similar to the previous game, but with a completely new storyline, new locations and a few additions to the gameplay, anyone who enjoyed fragging and clearing in the original game will have a brilliant time doing the same this time around. Vegas just can't get a break.

  • Excerpt: was received very well by critics and loved by many next-gen gamers, and this success acted as a springboard to the sequel. Some may not like the idea that were returning to Las Vegas rather than infiltrating another area, but at the same time, the city of sin is such a perfect place for a massive battle against terrorists.

  • Excerpt: It could have gone some other way, but Rainbow Six Vegas 2 exemplifies the sequel done right. It's new but not radically different from the original, adding instead just a few key mechanics that you didn't know you wanted, subtle yet key and forever required hereafter.

  • Conclusion: THE VERDICT: There's something very satisfying about executing a precise breach-and-clear move on a room full of terrorists. it provides a thrill that not many shooters out there today can match. And while there's an argument to be made for the premise starting to wear thin, as long as Ubisoft keeps developing games that play as well as this, people will keep buying them.

Rainbow Six: Vegas 2

Evil Avatar
25 March 2008
  • Excerpt: Of course the storyline isn’t all that important, what’s important are the tactics you employ with the two AI soldiers in your team and the fact that the basic objective here is to kill all the terrorists as quickly as possible. There have been a number of changes from the original game as I understand it. You are now able to sprint forwards and sideways while also unloading your weapons.
  • Pros: The graphics, The co-op, although 2 player only, is top notch, The multiplayer is fun, You gain experience through both the single-player and online modes
  • Cons: Co-op story is only 2-player, Only one person can command 2 AI soldiers in co-op

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2 (PS3)

Crispy Gamer
24 March 2008
  • Excerpt: Setting a Rainbow Six game in that gaudiest of cities, fabulous Las Vegas, is a hard act to follow. Last year's Rainbow Six Vegas was surely one of the finest tactical shooters ever pressed onto a Blu-ray disc. Vegas had it all: thrilling action set pieces, a decent storyline, exciting casinos to shoot up, and terrific online action, plus the game is a contender for "Best Shooting From Cover System" (a feat in a market that includes Gears of War and Uncharted ), all set...

Rainbow Six Vegas 2

  • Excerpt: First Impressions My reaction is Love ‘em or hate ‘em, sequels have become an integral part of the gaming industry. I’m not insinuating that sequels are bad! If the good lads at Infinity Ward have taught us anything with Call of Duty 4, it’s that a gaming franchise can be taken in a fresh and immersive direction both online and offline. Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, unfortunately, does not even try to implement any sort of significant changes to its formula to spice things up.
