Summary: It's certainly no Ace Combat, but in its own way its pretty good. The level up system is what keeps you playing kind of (to unlock better weapon packs for your aircraft). The story is ehhh, but the gameplay is good all around I'd say.
Summary: I have not played this game a whole lot yet. The controls defintely take some getting used to. It is not quite arcade flight but not a flight simulator either. It seems fun but at least for me as a steeper learning curve.
Summary: As many other reviewers of this game, I'm a long-time fan of the AC titles and was also disappointed when they decided to drop Sony. Very few flight games have found their way onto the PS3 and I think that this game missed a golden opportunity to really shine. As I mentioned in the title, this game is good, but not great. It may have gotten a few extra bonus points for being the first modern jet game for the PS3, but you'll have to judge for yourself.
Excerpt: "This was the game I was looking forward to playing the most when I bought my PS3. I saw some videos of the gameplay online and it looked really good. I'm really quite fond of combat flight games but there have never really been that many available (on the PS3 anyway). So when I saw this game it was a must have. I actually bought a joystick with it as well, however I think it's better without it to be honest. Anyway that's a different review. The game ...
Pros: Good gameplay, accurate looking planes, good graphics and sound .
Cons: Story mode is too short, can get repetitive, dodgy trees, not enough game life .
Conclusion: There is one thing that really annoys me in H.A.W.X and that is that the graphics are awful on the ground. Flying low over a town or city and seeing graphics you'd expect in a ps1 game is just annoying, although the graphics elsewhere are well within the standard of a ps3 . H.A.W.X is a classic Tom Clancy, but not quite as good as some other Clancy games out earlier. The story is a good length and some levels are quite difficult.
