Conclusion: All of the problems are irksome rather than game-breaking, and don't have a significant impact on what is a surprisingly deep and engaging rendition of Mark Twain's “good walk spoiled”. It isn't likely to set the world alight, but if you're a fan of golf and looking to get in on the game without getting the hem of your trousers damp, you'll be more than happy with this.
Excerpt: As a series, Tiger Woods tends to increment with gentle putts rather than hefty swings - and it has become even more apparent with the last few iterations. As the series' little Wii sibling continues to dazzle with progressively fancier MotionPlus controls, the 360/PS3 version is starting to feel a little old hat by comparison.
Review: Tiger Woods PGA Tour '11 (Sony Playstation 3)
27 September 2010
Summary: For fans of the PGA Tour and golf that isn’t heavily slanted towards arcade gameplay such as Hot Shots Golf , you have two choices: either purchase Tiger Woods PGA Tour ’11 , or go forth and multiply. I really wish the choices weren’t so limited. As it is, anyone who purchases this game is getting a serious time drain and the ability to play online, and surprisingly little else. I would recommend this game only to fans of the Ryder Cup.
Excerpt: Despite the endless amount of pointless conjecture about Tigers personal life and how its affecting his grasp on the game of golf, it just wouldnt be fitting to roll out another golfer for this massive EA Sports franchise. Going for the last 12 years, Tiger Woods PGA Tour is a staple in the EA Sports lineup and generally in the gaming industry.
Conclusion: Big steps forward for the franchise and a return to form for a series that, like its titular sports personality, was starting to stumble down a rocky road. It will certainly be interesting to see what Kinect brings to this franchise.
Excerpt: It has been an eventful year for Tiger Woods, but while his personal life and his golf game have suffered, the good news is that his video game has not. Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 introduces a number of new features to the long-running golf series that not only make it more realistic, but also add some much-needed challenge to the proceedings.
Pros: Optional true-aim controls make the game much more realistic, Focus system brilliantly limits the use of powerful player aids, Loads of different modes and rule sets, Includes 17 great real-world courses, Numerous minor gameplay tweaks and improvements over last year's game
Cons: Not enough pros on the roster for the new Ryder Cup mode, Occasionally awkward camera
