Showing 1-10 of 16

Conclusion: Like many fans of The Walking Dead, I started off watching the TV series rather than reading the comic. As my affection for the series continued to grow, I found myself reading the comics as well, thus thoroughly indulging myself in the zombie goodness from creator Robert Kirkman. When The Walking Dead Game was announced by Telltale Games, I was a bit thrilled by the news.
Summary: The Walking Dead: Episode 1 is a superb addition to the universe created by Robert Kirkman. Everything that has made the graphic novel great is bundled into this short (2-3 hours), but incredibly absorbing adaptation.
Pros: Faithful adaptation of the graphic novel, Classic point-and-click gameplay with solid action, Relatable, truly human characters, Choices weigh heavy and require quick thinking
Cons: Minor graphical imperfections, Some characters not completely rounded out
The Walking Dead: Episode 1 - A New Day review (PS3)

Excerpt: Like the comic and show, the game is really about relationships and tough decisions. The dialogue options are the heart of the game. You can choose how to react to most things characters say. Depending on the situation, you can lie or tell the truth, be hateful or helpful, insult someone or support them. Characters will remember the things you do and say to them, and later scenes will change depending on your decisions.
Excerpt: Already a hit comic and television series, the Walking Dead franchise is now a media triptych with this jaunt into gaming, keeping its unique ratio of spilled viscera and earnest melodrama intact. The first episode is an entertaining three-hour romp, and while still an adventure game at its heart, it largely manages to vanquish illogical inventory puzzles in favor of story-driven conversations with consequences that Telltale promises will echo out into future episodes.
Summary: This is not your average Telltale Games adventure. The developer best known for all-ages affairs like the Back to the Future and Tales of Monkey Island franchises has nimbly waded into the guts and gore of the zombie apocalypse with the first episode of its five-part take on The Walking Dead.
Pros: Gripping storyline and first-rate characters and dialogue, Fantastic, stylish artwork, Panicky, crazy action sequences
Cons: Shallow gameplay, Camera angle is too restrictive in many scenes
