Excerpt: What's the common thread binding Ratchet and Clank, Jax and Daxter and Sly Cooper together? For one, they were all platformer franchises that were launched on the Playstation 2 in the early 2000s and secondly, their developers have gone on to create successful franchises for the Playstation 3. Insomniac rolled with Resistance, Naughty Dog created the blockbuster Uncharted series and Sucker Punch have moved on to inFamous.
Excerpt: Sony is doing a fantastic thing by releasing The Sly Collection. This Playstation 3 (PS3) game includes Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly Cooper 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Amongst Thieves. These three Playstation 2 (PS2) games have been remastered in high definition. They are 3D compatible, and also compatible with the Playstation Move.

Summary: Parents need to know that The Sly Collection is a 3-pack of previously released PS2 games now remastered to play on the PS3. These games feature the fun but wily raccoon Sly, and are either rated "Everyone" or "Everyone 10+" for cartoon violence and/or comic mischief. Specifically, you play as a raccoon thief who sneaks behind baddies, pick-pockets, crawls through vents, tiptoes across rooftops, and engages in some mild combat against enemies.
Excerpt: If you're new to the scene, you might only know Sucker Punch as the studio who made Infamous. Before their open-world comic book antics, they made a little trilogy about a thieving raccoon by the name of Sly Cooper. His tale has been deemed fit for re-release, a la the God of War Collection, with spiffy HD visuals, and it amounts to a whole lot of game for a low price.
Conclusion: A great remastering marred but a few technical issues and oversights, and an awful mini-game collection. If you haven't played these games to death already, you owe it to yourself to see what you missed out on in the last generation.
Excerpt: There aren’t many reasons not to play The Sly Collection , barring a bitter hatred of all things platforming or a shelf full of Sly Cooper games that you’ve already played through countless times. Perhaps that sort of love for the series would be a perfect reason to pick up Sony’s latest compilation of PlayStation 2 games updated for the HD era, though, as all three entries have been given a fresh coat of paint and look great on the PS3 while retaining the superb...
Summary: Forget about devious, thieving racoons. Sony’s decision to do away with PS2 compatibility on PS3 was arguably the most cunning and, dare I say it, sly moves of this generation - forcing gamers to purchase HD versions of their favourite PS2 titles. Still, given the inherent quality of the God of War Collection, there’s no denying that Sony knows how to knock together a stellar last-gen compilation disc.
Summary: The Sly Collection brings together three fun games that many people will never have played before. If you fall into that category and enjoy platform games, then this is a must-have. For everyone else it’s still well worth checking out.
