The Lord Of The Rings: Aragorn's Quest Review
16 December 2010
Summary: On the PS3, " Aragorn’s Quest " feels like a cheap way to cash in on the new PS Move controllers. The graphics are just the Wii textures in HD, and neither controller scheme feels particularly comfortable or natural to use. Co-op, being local only, and really needing two sets of Move controllers isn’t exactly great either.
Excerpt: It is a popular notion among Tolkien fans that the world can be divided into two types of people, “those who have read The Lord of the Rings and those who are going to.” And while this is an admirable concept, the truth of the matter is that as technology advances so does reading recede into the background a little more.
Conclusion: If you're a PS3 owner, be prepared for a game that doesn't utilize the console's power to its fullest. It may be an interesting test of the Playstation Move's capability, but if you want to play the game the way it was designed and intended, your best bet is the Wii version. Aragorn's Quest isn't the best Lord of the Rings game to hit the market, but it certainly isn't the worst either.
Summary: Aragorn's Quest is a fun game that is well-suited to a younger, less demanding audience. It's family-friendly despite the hack and slash action, and despite a few glitches it's well worth checking out
