A Bargain isn't a Bargain if You Aren't Having Fun

Summary: I was really excited about buying this game because it seemed like a great opportunity to play a classic game I had missed as well as a new game. My excitement, however, quickly gave way to frustration. While the story and the acting were fine, the gameplay itself is infuriating. I can handle difficult games, but there's something very unsatisfying about having to empty a clip into each foe to take them down. I felt like I was blowing paper wrappers off straws at guys.
Summary: This game had potential but I could not enjoy it due to the dated graphics and unbalanced enemies. On easiest difficulty setting, it's still very easy to die quickly. Cannot recommend given all the great games available today.
Summary: This really pains me, but the first thing I noticed about both of these games was the just OK graphics. Riddick:Escape from Butcher Bay was horrible to look at on the Ps3. The camera would only focus clearly on one part of the scene. Athena had no such camera issues. Athena was marginally better looking than Escape. One scene in particular, at the start, when Riddick is outside the prison, three times, the facade of the building is a blur.
Summary: I've played and beaten about a dozen games this year and Chronicles of Riddick was the least fun save for Dark Sector. However, it is fun in a way. I was going to give it 3 stars, but decided on 2 stars because as I was making a pros and cons list, I had difficulty thinking of the pros. Why did I want to continue and beat the game? Anyway, here's some pros and cons. PROs: 1. Voice acting...just like the movies...over-the-top, but compelling. 2. Escaping.
Summary: This game is so disappointing. the only reason i brought this game is because im a big fan of pitch black and the cronicels of riddick. The action is boreing theres hardly any moves the grathics are dated looks like im playing a ps2 they could have made this game so much better the best thing about this game is the eyeshine bottom line i would not recommend
Conclusion: Before you waste your cash, try the demo first. Played the demo on PSN, what a big let down!! nothing special at all, which is a shame as I am a big fan of the pitch black/Riddick series, the fighting style feels very clumsy, as a FPS game it is nowhere in the same league as COD4/COD5, which is the benchmark!!

Summary: the dark athena graphics are good but the game and gameplay are rubbish. the only part worth the money was the remastered butcher bay that is included on the disk, it was a lot more fun than the new game your paying for.
