A Fun, Fast-Paced Game of Ball Without Much Depth or Replay Value
22 September 2009
Conclusion: Concept: A straight-up sequel with storytelling flash and unwanted gameplay changes
Graphics: A detailed view of what every player would look like on steroids. Carlton Fisk looks like the Hulk!
Sound: Believe it or not, a baseball announcer can be worse than Joe Morgan, and he's calling games in The Bigs 2
Playability: Pitching feels great, yet the timing for batting seems slow.
Summary: Bad ideas don't get better when they are implemented well. This technically competent arcade-style baseball title is a perfect example. Its framerate is solid, and the career mode lays out a smooth path to 'roided up stardom, but the package as a whole is boring. Baseball is a game whose character is hidden in its nuances.
Conclusion: A true improvement in every way The BIGS 2 proves Blue Castle Games wasn't just a one-hit wonder, and they've established themselves as the premier torch bearer for arcade sports games. Even sports game haters will find plenty to love here.
Excerpt: So here I am, trying to setup my new audio setup with the supplied Optical Cable. The booklet that came with my Sony system is showing me a diagram telling me to route the cable from my TV's Optical Out, to any Optical channel on the audio unit. That doesn't work. So I decide to see if it'll work if it's routed from the PS3. Ah, voila! I'm all excited to see if I can hear a difference in quality between the HDMI setup to this Optical setup.
Summary: Known for its over-the-top style of gameplay, The Bigs 2 focuses on the big fast-paced moments in Major League Baseball with new opportunities to go up against MLB legends, more mini-games like Home Run Pinball, and a variety of other new features.
Summary: In real life, performance-enhancing drugs have tainted the national pastime, giving ballplayers an artificial means to get more power and bigger heads. But what if there were a way to make baseball players throw flaming fastballs or leap 20 feet in the air to steal a potential home run without the stigma of cheating or any grotesque side effects?
Pros: Pitching and batting mechanics are thrilling, Skill points add some strategy to the arcade action, A full Season mode lets you trade and keep basic statistics, Become a Legend mode has lots of different minigames and objectives to keep things interesting
Cons: AI baserunning and fielding are lousy, Statistics cover just the basics
Summary: Baseball is in Nederland waarschijnlijk net zo populair als jeu de boules in Amerika.
Pros: Leuke modi, Audiovisueel prima in orde, Belonend, Krachtig... Veel teams, Eigen speler, Makkelijk om te leren
Cons: Beperkte multiplayer, Geluk is een grote factor, Soms onrealistisch, ... maar kort
