2 September 2013
  • Summary: Starbreeze Studios certainly turned heads when it unveiled its progress on a brand-new Syndicate game, although attached to many of those heads were scowling faces sporting sneers of disgust. Syndicate is yet another classic PC game that has "modernized" by mutating into a first-person shooter.

Looks 1

25 April 2013
  • Excerpt: Without the honour of working for Ablegamers and the burning need to tell the world just how terrible Syndicate really is, I would never have seen the end credits of this run-of-the-mill FPS roll. I think it was the first boss battle where I would have thrown down my controller in defeat; that's when I really started to rage.

Syndicate review

24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: A recent trip into EA’s intellectual property vault results in Syndicate, a new first-person shooter that combines the craftsmanship and technical expertise of Swedish devhouse Starbreeze with the basic fiction (but little else) of the late, great Bullfrog’s classic 1993 isometric tactics game, Syndicate.
  • Pros: Solid sci-fi shooting action, Beautiful sense of design, Online co-op done right
  • Cons: Corridors, corridors everywhere, No competitive modes limits life, Good ideas need more expanding

Syndicate Review

21 April 2012
  • Summary: Syndicate is a reincarnation of the popular, 1993 tactical shooter in an FPS avatar. Set in a well-designed albeit a bleak future where the world is dominated by giant corporations and humans are implanted with chips giving them god-like powers.
  • Pros: Beautifully designed futuristic world, Brilliant co-op campaign, Breaching mechanism
  • Cons: Overuse of the light bloom effect, Meagre single-player campaign, Frustrating boss fights

Syndicate (PS3) Review

20 April 2012
  • Summary: Syndicate turns out to be a pretty decent game, but not all too memorable. This game would work best as an over the weekend rental since you can play and finish it rather quickly. The game has a solid story and presentation, and the hacking techniques is mixed into the combat quite well, but overall the game comes off as unpolished and incomplete.

Syndicate PS3 Review

Console Obsession
19 March 2012
  • Excerpt: The Syndicate of 1993 was an isometric action game with strategic elements and, whilst 2012’s version bears the same name, it has little relation to Bullfrog’s well loved game however, and is instead an FPS, which is why, upon its announcement, it was met by so much ire by those with fond memories of the original game. The setting has similarities with last year’s Deus EX reboot, which results in it being a bit less interesting than it otherwise could have been.

Earth Made Of (Bulletproof) Glass

18 March 2012
  • Conclusion: No, it doesn't stay true to the franchise at all, yet Syndicate still manages to impress with both a well executed artistic vision and a thoughtfully implemented co-op mode that takes some fresh approaches.

Game Over Online
7 March 2012
  • Excerpt: Fast-forward to 2012 and the game has been given the reboot treatment by Starbreeze Studios (known for The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick games). The new, shinier version of Syndicate shares the name, the basic premise, and not much else. Instead, we get yet another FPS in an over-inundated market... with enough originality and fun toys to make it worth playing.
