The game Strangehold, a John Woo presentation is a sort of virtual sequel to the film Hard Boiled. Players play the role that Chow Yun-Fat did, Inspector Tequila. The problem with this game is that it took so long to come and by the time it did, other games have already surpassed it, visually speaking. Nevertheless, this game does have a few good features like its rich cinematic presentation supported by great acting and realistic storyline. With this game, players get to control a John Woo movie experience. Backgrounds of the game vary from city streets and back alleys, a museum to even along portside of a fishing dock. These areas are just for you to “dirty” and destroy bits by bits. Despite its poor textures, enemy variety and animations, players get to destroy anything in sight using the Unreal 3.0 engine. It just keeps getting better and better. Players will be happy as their battlegrounds deform in their paths of destruction and they can see themselves the damages they have caused by using their line of weapons. A certain mode called “Tequila Time” is available for players to have the ability to slow down time and take more enemies down. There’s a multiplayer mode available and also the option to play the game online with five other players. All in all, action fans will love this action game.
