Conclusion: The DS version of the game is rated E-10 with ESRB descriptors of Comic Violence and Suggestive Themes. Spider-Man can punch enemies, who disappear when defeated. I guess the suggestive themes come from some of the female characters’ costumes. The 3DS version is rated T for Teen with ESRB descriptors of Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. As it is a 3-D game, the fights are more graphic. The language must be used sparingly, because I didn’t notice anything.
Excerpt: Alongside the hotly anticipated film comes the video game adaptation of Spider-Man 3 for consoles. But be forewarned that not all versions offer the same gameplay experience. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, produced by longtime Spidey developer Treyarch, were essentially slightly upgraded versions of the previous Spider-Man movie games.
Pros: Webswinging with the Wii Remote is kind of cool, Huge city to explore
Cons: Combat and camera controls are awful, A relatively short, completely disjointed storyline, Crummy combat moves and lame enemies, Graphics are massively underwhelming, Cheesy voice acting
Excerpt: The more advanced games become, the more the little things will stick out. New York City is recreated as the world you get to save in Spider-Man 3: Collector's Edition . There's the familiar skyline you'll get to swing from as well as traffic, both automotive and pedestrian, roaming above ground, with subway trains tunneling below. The problem is that the more realistic things appear, the more we scrutinize them to determine if they're real or not.
Conclusion: I think the game put it best whenever you failed at a mission. When you fail, you have the option to “Retry” or “Try Something Else.” Of course in the game they meant to abort the mission and try another one, but you should go beyond that and just try something else entirely because Spider-Man 3 is a very disappointing and frustrating game that is not worth your hard earned cash.
Excerpt: It wouldn't be a big, splashy, blockbuster film release without the obligatory game tie-in, would it... Spider-Man 3 is no exception. The good news is that where movie licenses generally have a reputation for lazy development, games based on the Spider-man films have a reputation for quality and good, wholesome fun. While Activision's promising fun this time around, we can't promise that it'll necessarily be wholesome.
Summary: Based on the feature film, Spider-Man 3 allows players to experience the actions of heroic red-suited Spider-Man and, for the first time ever, his darker, more mysterious black-suited persona.
