Summary: This game is a total disaster, it rips the entire SoulCalibur franchise 6 feet under, it lacks with all the essential concepts that puts this series a great one for the last decade. The graphics, gameplay and creation has improved but the storytelling, like the cinematic plot and endings with the variety of single player modes are totally gone, only a stupid and mediocre story mode is all it has to offer, very disappointing have to wait almost 4 years to get this...
Summary: Graphics seem like they have gone backwards. I have always played on xbox and bought ps3 because i expected better graphics. Sound is ok game play is ehhhh. Out of all the others this one is the worst.
Summary: Despite the fact that there are a numerous amount of moves to learn in this game what the combat boils down to is air juggling and ground strikes. I picked this game up today thinking about the last Soul Calibur that I played which was II and thought how much fun it was. After playing the normal mode I can see the cpu grossly abusing those 2 mechanics.
Summary: I have been a fan of the series since the beginning. I thought as a new game in a series comes out they are suppose improve upon the previous. This game took 5 steps back with boring customizations, same tired characters with different names and shells. The only two good things about this game is that it looks and sounds good. If I could give it a negative rating I would rate it a negative seven.
Summary: The Good -Graphics are a pretty big improvement over sc4. -The online is done extremely well best lobby I have seen in a game in a long time. -New gameplay tactics like the Fuzzy guard can add different playstyles for several characters. Now the BAD -Horrid story mode, most new characters are just there with no real involvement with the story(some of the new characters have like one line of speech) -No bios at all. -No artwork. -Gaining Cas parts is random.
Summary: This could possibly be the biggest waste of my money on any game Ever. I was a hardcore soulcalibur gamer but I played this for 5 minutes and knew it wasnt worth another minute of my life figuring out all the horrible changes they made. They turned an awesome complicated fighting game into a dumbed down version that is basically street fighter in 3d. Namco does not deserve to be making the great series that once was soul caliber.
Summary: What sad times these are. Every series I grew up with is being dragged through the mud just so the publisher can make a quicker buck. Add SC to that list. If you don't care about Soulcalibur's characters or storyline, this is the perfect game for you because you won't find anything here but versus and dress-up mode. Essentially it's a $60 Soulcalibur IV add-on. Give it a few months and the price should be cut in half.
Summary: As other reviews have stated, this game is severely lacking in the offline department. There is nothing aside from 3 characters that explains why any of the other characters exist, what their motivations are, etc. Its just a bare bones fighting game, that's all it is now. Sadly it does not continue the what made previous entries so special. Move along casual gamers, nothing to see here.
Summary: If you are planning to buy this game based on nostalgia to the earlier editions, then you are in for a crushing disappointment. This game has been developed with "casual" gamers in mind or in other words Namco thinks that you suck as a gamer and needs a game that make you feel as a tournament gamer by mashing the hell out of the controller/stick buttons.
