Soulcalibur V review

GamesRadar
27 June 2012
  • Excerpt: Soulcalibur V isn’t a reboot in name, but as we spent hours diving into its intricate system, it sure feels like one. If Soulcalibur III was a largely-forgotten misstep, and Soulcalibur IV was a good sequel for its time, Soulcalibur V marks a solid improvement. It has some questionable moments in its presentation, but overall, it weaves nostalgia together with reinvention for a reasonably sound fighting experience. SC5’s plot takes place 17 years after the events of SC4.
  • Pros: New tweaks to gameplay, Visual splendor, Blend of fresh faces and familiar fighters
  • Cons: Cheesy story mode not for the lactose intolerant, Legendary Souls mode will drive non-hardcore players crazy, Did we mention the voice acting for story mode?

Expert Review

Original-Gamer
28 February 2012
  • Conclusion: As the fighting game genre is going through its revival period right now, another big franchise is back to contend for best fighting game.  The Soul Calibur series has had its ups and downs: it arguably was one of the best of the early fighting games with Soul Calibur on the Dreamcast, to some very lauded sequels that were more about the special characters rather than in improving on the gameplay.

SoulCalibur V

GameTrailers
31 January 2012
  • Excerpt: The popular and enduring weapon-based fighting series strikes once again with Soul Calibur V, returning to its increasingly implausible stage of history for flashy, weapon-based combat and wild character customization. It’s blatantly obvious that the soul still burns, but is the flame being kept alive by more than just name recognition and marketing muscle?

  • Conclusion: Project Soul got a lot right with SCV, and I enjoy it, I just wish there were more content, specifically more offline modes of play. I find myself bouncing back and forth between offline and online play, slowly becoming content and fatigued with both.

SoulCalibur V review

Gamedot
6 February 2012
  • Conclusion: Fighting games come and go and few franchises build up a loyal enough fanbase to guarantee a hit sequel upon sequel. Street Fighter is arguably the most successful, but there are many that have carved out a niche and subsequently a cult following such as King of Fighters and Mortal Kombat. The SoulCalibur series was in danger of losing its identity and itself falling into the annals of history.
  • Pros: Excellent multiplayer. Combo depth for fans whilst playable by complete newcomers.
  • Cons: Single player is lacking on modes. No tutorial mode of any kind.

SoulCalibur V (PS3) Review

zConnection International
31 January 2012
  • Conclusion: How might one describe SoulCalibur V in a handful of words? I’d choose polished for a start, as well as gorgeous and fun. As a fighter where victory is not assured by hammering the same button, its freshness is welcome, and its subtle refinements and new features expand on the previously established structure of the series in a not so jarring manner.

Review: Soul Calibur 5 é a volta maestral da franquia da Namco

Tech Tudo
19 March 2012
  • Cons: Demora no modo online., Defesa ainda é falha.

Soul Calibur 5: Jetzt fliegen wieder Fäuste und Röcke

Spieletipps.de
29 February 2012
  • Summary: Darunter viele vertraute Gesichter wie Siegfried, Nightmare, Tira, Ivy oder Voldo.
