The excitement and tension of SOCOM's signature combat are blunted by technical issues in the series' multiplayer-only PlayStation 3 debut.
21 October 2008
Summary: SOCOM fans who have been eagerly awaiting the venerable series' return to consoles should be warned: You may not get all that you've hoped for in Confrontation. The beating heart of the series--the realistic, tightly wound tactical combat--is still healthy, but Confrontation's arteries are clogged...
Pros: Classic SOCOM action remains intact, Variety of guns and gear let you tweak your soldier in meaningful ways, Large, well-designed maps
Cons: Myriad network issues, Lag sometimes spoils combat, Stat-tracking is broken, Movement can be awkward
Conclusion: Like the previous games in the series, Confrontation manages to keep the intense heat of battle and desire to work together, but fails in virtually every other aspect. The technical issues completely destroy what should be an excellent online shooter.
Excerpt: Tilbage i september sidste år kiggede vi første gang på SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation igennem en offentlig beta. Spillet havde potentiale, men havde i dén grad brug for forbedring på en lang række centrale punkter.
