Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
2 May 2013
Conclusion: For a generation denominated by shooters, it’s rather refreshing to see the platforming genre still alive and kicking. While this title doesn’t break the mold, it does provide a refreshing take on the series which brings about unique sequences and memorable experiences. The overall experience can take you anywhere from 8-12 hours to complete, depending on how your approach the game.
Review: Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time will steal your heart (PlayStation 3)
22 March 2013
Excerpt: It's been ages since we've had a new Sly Cooper adventure in the fray, and with Sucker Punch toiling away on what will eventually be the next Infamous , we were wondering for quite some time whether the master thief would be making a return. But Sony eased our tension a while back by announcing Thieves In Time , a new chapter in the series that would be developed by Sanzaru Games – the same team behind the previously released Sly Collection . So, do these newbies have...
Conclusion: While Thieves in Time doesn’t do anything completely new or innovative, it doesn’t have to; what it does, it does absolutely perfectly. From flawless controls to rampant diversity, Sanzaru shows that they are more than capable of handling this beloved franchise. At $40, this game is an incredible buy, especially considering that you get a free Vita version with the purchase of a PS3 version.
Excerpt: Whether it is fair or not, every review written for a PlayStation Vita game must consider two things: Is it a good game? And if it isn't, is it good enough to fill the gaping holes in Sony's release calendar? The lack of a steady stream of new Vita games, and an almost blank checklist of games coming soon, means that not only must one consider a game on its merits; they must temper that with the knowledge that there isn't much else out there to play.
Conclusion: It's always encouraging when a classic series gets revisited and the result is this good. Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time is an excellent game for the whole family, and it's being offered at a stunning value.
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time Review for PS3, PS Vita
5 February 2013
Conclusion: After a nearly 8 year hiatus, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time is a worthy 4th installment in the Sly Cooper series (especially for under $40), and Sanzaru Games did a great job picking up where Sucker Punch left off. Overall, it's an interesting take on the Sly formula, though ultimately, a fairly safe one.
Conclusion: Concept: The team at Sanzaru are longtime fans of the franchise, and this love shows through in a game that captures the spirit of the past while bringing it up to present-day standards
Graphics: The cel-shaded, beautifully animated characters pop off the screen against richly detailed and colorful worlds
Sound: Incorporating influences from Henry Mancini’s jazzy ‘50s movies soundtracks to a variety of period-specific genres, this is the most diverse and best game...
