Summary: There is Grand Theft Auto and then there is everything else. Sure, Assassin's Creed and inFAMOUS do traversal better and Saint's Row has more varied missions, but no one excels at world building in the way Rockstar does. From the breakthrough hit of the open world action genre in 2001 to the innovations and insane detail of GTAIV , Rockstar has not only defined the genre but sculpted it for a decade while others just toyed around with it.
Excerpt: A few weeks ago I had posted a blog about how I was finding it harder and harder to sit down and play a game for long periods of time. No matter what the game was, even if it was one of my favorites, I just could not do it. I guess subconsciously I wanted something else; something that combines all of my favorite game elements and could capture my interest and hold onto it for the duration of the storyline.
Pros: Stunning detail, Amazing gameplay/ combat, Great driving action
Excerpt: It's been a long time since I played with a huge, riveting, open-world crime-centric game on my PC. Sleeping Dogs will keep you awake at night, staying up playing into the early hours. The game is also available for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but I wanted to try it out on the PC because of the free high-resolution texture pack that really brings Hong Kong to life. It doesn't disappoint. But I'll go into that a bit more later.
Excerpt: I was waiting for the game since 2008, pretty long wait till 2012. Sleeping Dogs at first announced as True Crime: Hong kong , a sequel to True Crime series but was canceled by Activision in 2011 due to its high developement budget and delays. Six months later, it was announced that Square Enix had picked up the publishing rights to the game but at that time it got a new name called as " Sleeping Dogs".
Pros: Good Storyline, Martialarts combact, Fast cars and Bikes
Cons: Lack of polish in game, Looks old because it is, Complicated shooting
Conclusion: Sleeping Dogs is a slightly wonky game, seemingly held back by a handful of minor but apparent technical problems. Thankfully the characters and gameplay are so damn good that you won't care, not even a little. That's the sign of a great game.
Excerpt: is like…way fun. See, that’s what happens when you sit for ten minutes, desperately and vainly trying to come up with a really great opening line. All that happens is you reflect on your play time and ultimately, one reaction tends to bleed through. It isn’t poetic. It isn’t detailed. It doesn’t really do much for the reader. But you know, it’s damn accurate and now I’ll spend the requisite time explaining why this one is like...wait, let me think…"Wei" fun.
Summary: Sleeping Dogs offers one of the strongest narratives in recent gaming and drags you through the gritty streets of Hong Kong's mob underworld in the process. Its gameplay doesn't offer many new ideas, but it delivers what it promises. Namely, an engaging story, fun combat, slick driving, and solid gameplay.
Pros: Terrific narrative and characters, Solid gameplay elements, Beautiful presentation
Cons: Minor bugs, Some boring missions, Melee combat offers little challenge
