Excerpt: If I had to name a single subgenre that has been monopolized by one franchise for far too long, that would have to be skateboarding games. I’m sure most of you know about the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. The first was incredible, arguably the best skateboarding game of its time. Since then the skateboarding genre has been dominated by this single Tony Hawk-endorsed franchise for around 7 iterations of the same game, but luckily that has finally changed.
Excerpt: When you think about how tiny the competition for Tony Hawk's Pro Skater has been, it comes as a surprise that SKATE is Electronic Arts' first attempt at a modern skateboarding game. An attempt long overdue, in fact. SKATE is EA's first skateboarding game since Skate or Die 20 years ago. With that, the question begs to be answered, is EA competent enough as a relative newcomer to the genre to dethrone the long running Hawk?
Excerpt: Skate is the best skateboarding game on the market. It's a good game to play whether you have ever been a skater or not. Those that have will appreciate the similarity in controls to real skating, whilst those that haven't will appreciate not having to button mash for the controls.
Pros: Realistic skate environments to explore. Convincing sound effects. Easy to pick up, but hard hard to master controls.
Cons: Some textures pop up. Can't get off your board to run up stairs. Can see areas where advertising could be sold in future games.
Summary: Sledujete s úžasem divoké kousky borců na stanici eXtreme, ale zároveň nemáte koule na to zkusit si to ve skutečnosti? Nezoufejte. Zážitek next-genového simulátoru je realitě velmi blízký. Let`s SKATE!
Pros: Revoluční ovládání, Příjemné audio-vizuální zpracování, Licencované značky, časopisy, soutěže
Cons: Příliš vysoká cena, Místy zatraceně těžké, Čas od času kamera
