Summary: I'm not a skateboarder and I never was but this game made me want to try. It has great graphics and it all looks so real. The characters are all famous skateboarders so they add more realism to the game. The missions they send you on are fun for a little but can get pretty boring. I usually just roam around in free skate because it's nice and relaxing. This is a good game is recommend you check it out.
Summary: I grew up on the Tony Hawk series for n64 and ps2. Though I like to think I can adapt to controls and gameplay quickly, it is kinda hard for me to do in Skate 2. I feel it is more difficult to complete air grabs in half pipes, etc and extremely easy to do flip tricks and grinding. The controls are very tricky because Tony Hawk, all you had to do is ollie before any kind of trick, whether it was an air grab, grind or flip trick.
Positive: - 60 fps is more pleasing to the eye and run
5 July 2010
Summary: Positive: - 60 fps is more pleasing to the eye and runs a lot smoother - on foot gameplay is great as you are now able to move objects and walk up those pesky stairs - New San Vanelona, a completely revamped version of the original city, this one feels larger, deeper, and features a slew of iconic buildings and landmarks from the first - Hall of Meat and bails is a great addition as you can hurl your skater into bone crushing crashes and get information on everything...
Summary: Recently Skate boarding games,The Tony Hawk's series mainly have had, well, uninteresting, watered down, boring story lines and stale game play. Tony Hawk's Proving Ground and Ride are two good examples of games worth about 5 minutes of fun...I was really losing hope in the genre, until I picked up Skate 2. I took it home, popped the game in, went to career and was greeted with a movie that made me get into the game right away.
Summary: Skate 2, i played the demo on ps3 and loved it. The game felt so right to me that i had to pick the full thing up. There were no surprises, the demo was exactly like the game. skate 2 is a great game overall, its a great new experience and more of a SIM compared to what the tony hawks series is. At times if gets frustrating trying to land some of the tricks, and makes you feel like you really are skateboarding and trying to achieve that perfect run.
Summary: Skate re-defined a genre of games in dire need of re-definition. While the most popular series out there was busy running out of good ideas, EA put out a game that ramped up the realism, with one of the most genius control schemes I've ever seen in a game, and somehow made skating for its own sake fun in the context of a video game - something that no one else has ever really been able to do. Skate 2 is a refinement of the first game.
Summary: Like - Very realistic approach to skateboarding. Not and over the top game like most "arcade" skaters. Has enough depth to keep you coming back time after time. Dislike - Some challenges are extremely difficult to complete. Even the challenges that are thrown at you in the very beginning of the game are very hard. Get ready to throw that $55 dollar controller through your $700 HDTV. Sometimes it's too hard, but that's what keeps you coming back.
