Summary: Now this is my first silent hill game I have ever played. After I played this game I became a fan of silent hill. It is one of the scariest and creepiest games I have ever played, but sadly the game has issues that hold it back from being the best horror game ever. First I want to talk about the good things in the game.
Summary: If I may, I'd like to begin with a quote from a fellow Amazon reviewer for this title: Joman1000: "Despite that (Silent Hill 1) disturbed me beyond words and gave me recurrent nightmares, I felt compelled to keep coming back for more just because it was such an inexplicable, bizarre, unique, emotional, "otherworldly" experience.
Summary: Have you ever noticed that every time a franchise attempts to move in a new direction, masses of fans start their agonized complaining? I love Silent Hill. The series is one of my all time favorites, and playing the original for playstation is still one of the defining moments of my gaming career. I almost missed out on a fantastic experience here. Why? Because so many reviews of Downpour make it sound like trash, totally unworthy of your time or money.
Summary: I really don't know why people haven't mentioned this yet but Silent Hill Downpour can be played in 3D and it's FANTASTIC in 3D. Seriously, not a lot of games are great in 3D but this one just works. Maybe I'm overselling it a tiny bit, but imo it adds about 20% more fun to the game. Certain effects that pops out of the screen just really make a noticeable difference. The game is slow paced so you don't get the big headache you usually get with fast moving scenes.
Summary: First. I gotta say that I am not a die hard "fanboy" of the series. The first SH game I played was Homecoming which I enjoyed and I didn't understand what all the negative reviews were about. Anyway. Since then I have played: The room, Shattered Memories, the old classic one and about half of SH2, which is when I got this game. Second: This game does feel very different from any previous titles (which is ok by me. Who wants to play the same game over and over?).
Summary: I have to admit I started to worry about this game shortly before its release. After years of titles in the series that... well, weren't up to the standards set by the originals, I was worried that this game would have many of the same problems. Thankfully, I can say my doubts were gone within a few hours of this game.
Summary: First let me say I'm a true fan of the Silent Hill series, and after seeing the 20$ price for Downpour, I decided to buy it. And after playing it, I found myself enjoying Downpour very much, I'm not to sure why this title got so many negative reviews. Silent Hill Downpour isn't perfect, having texture pop-ins every once in awhile, and having frame rate issues during the auto saves, but nothing to serious to the point where the game is unplayable.
A flawed gem, but a gem nonetheless - BUY THIS NOW!

Summary: If you read reviews before buying games you've seen 3 negative things said about this game: 1)Frame rate issues abound. 2)Monster designs are really bad, boring and not up to the series' standards. 3)Akira Yamaoka, the composer and producer of the series is no longer part of it. And all three are true.
Summary: I used to be a Silent Hill fan, from the beginning of the series, but I became disenchanted by subsequent releases. I decided to try this one because I noticed a few reviewers commented that it was different from more recent SH games. Since I disliked the recent releases, I hoped different meant better. It does.
Summary: So glad I picked up this title. Once my character got away from the Devil's Pit, where the game begins, and into the town of Silent Hill, I was so amazed by the game. There is a very big map to explore and the player can enter many of the buildings.
