  • Summary: If you ever played Sega Rally for the Sega Saturn you will know a little of what to expect from Sega Rally Revo for the Playstation 3. The game gives new life to Sega’s fast paced arcade racing tradition by updating features while still paying respect to the forefathers of the franchise.

  • Excerpt: If there's one genre that the PlayStation 3 has a serious overabundance of... well, it's probably shooters. A close second, however, is the racer. Within the first year of release, we've seen numerous arcade attempts, a certain ultra-popular racing sim (or at least a tech demo of it), and plenty...

  • Excerpt: I remember first hearing the announcement of Sega Rally hitting next-gen consoles, a part of me had a feeling that we'd finally see a proper Sega Rally game again. The return of Sega Rally has been keenly followed by fans of the arcade series, die-hard Sega fans, and rally fans.

The technology behind Sega Rally Revo is undeniably impressive and the driving is a good bit of arcade fun, but the game's staying power is highly questionable.

  • Summary: Sega Rally Championship 2 for the Dreamcast was the last time North America saw a release of a Sega Rally game, back in 1999. Now, eight years later, the franchise is back in Sega Rally Revo for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and you may be shocked by how little things have changed.
  • Pros: Tracks deform and tear up to an amazing degree, Fantastic-looking cars and tracks, Lots of different cars to unlock
  • Cons: Gameplay is a bit on the shallow side, Computer opponents are rather single-minded, Could have used more tracks, Lack of rumble with the Sixaxis controller is a big hindrance

Pre-E3: Sega Rally Revo

UGO
14 May 2007
  • Excerpt: I'm not much for hardcore driving games (Gran Turismo kinda makes me want to vomit), but Sega Rally has always managed to get my attention. The original arcade game blew everyone away with then-amazing 3D graphics and a silky framerate, but things have been pretty quiet from the franchise for years.
