Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny review

GamesRadar
24 June 2012
  • Excerpt: Have you had hobo stew before? We knew a hobo once who could make a real mean stew. There’s no science to the recipe. You just take whatever you can scrounge up and throw it all into a boiling pot. Some of those ingredients may be better by themselves or if prepared differently, but when you’re a hobo you take what you can get. Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny is a stew with plenty of fixings in the pot, but it’s a bit overcooked.
  • Pros: Tons of stuff to do, Varied weapon choices, Aesthetically pleasing
  • Cons: Tedious and mundane minigames, Boring button mashing combat, Obvious and unsurprising story

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny Review

  • Excerpt: Imagine a creepy, flamboyant priest who likes to wiggle around whenever he talks to you. Then imagine if that priest told you that he has two kids--a boy and a girl--living with him in a church. Now imagine the boy constantly acting disturbed, with his head lowered in shame and embarrassment, hardly able to talk to you whenever you approach him. There's definitely something fishy going on there, wouldn't you say? I know I'd be alerting the nearby authorities ASAP.

Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny Review

GameSpot
28 October 2011
  • Excerpt: Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny starts with a battle. That may be surprising for a series that bills itself as a fantasy farming simulation (a spin-off of the popular Harvest Moon franchise), but it sets the tone for a game that maintains everything fans love about the series while embracing more of its action role-playing trappings. The result is still a game that blends farming, monster taming, and simple dungeon crawling, but one with more emphasis on the latter.
  • Pros: Addictive, easygoing gameplay, Nice style and personality, Can last a long time with tons to do
  • Cons: Combat is only button mashing, All side activities involve the same action, Boring fetch quests

  • Excerpt: Tides of Destiny is a great entry in the series, building up on the very flawed Rune Factory: Frontier and showing that the series does have a place on consoles. The streamlining and optimization makes it a great starting point for newcomers to the series, as well as a fresh experience for series veterans.
  • Pros: Easy to pick up, charming visuals, fast-paced combat.
  • Cons: Not enough early explanation, takes a while for the game to pick up steam.

  • Conclusion: Thomas Nickel meint: Rune Factory gewinnt keine Preise für Spieltiefe und Grafik, hat aber Charme und Charakter.

  • Pros: Viele unterschiedliche Waffen, Sehr schöne Anime-Zwischensequenzen, Teleporterfunktion sehr praktisch, Viele Aufgaben
