Rock Band 3 (PS3)

EL33TONLINE
23 November 2010
  • Excerpt: If your concern is that the plastic music instrument genre might be dying, you can at least be satisfied that it lasted until Rock Band 3 came out. If no more of these games ever come out it won’t matter because there just isn’t anything more to add.

Rock Band 3 (PS3) - Review

VGChartz
21 November 2010
  • Excerpt: The music game genre has been dying a slow sales death over the last couple years. The original Guitar Hero games sold well, as did the first Rock Band title. Since then, each subsequent release in the genre has seen steadily falling sales.

Rocking The Boat

GIN
17 November 2010
  • Excerpt: About a year prior to the release of Rock Band 3, both Kelly and I had a discussion on GamerGeeks, wondering just where the Rock Band franchise could go. After all, this was shortly after The Beatles: Rock Band came out and did an amazing job at recreating the history of the Fab Four.

Expert Review

PSX Extreme
13 November 2010
  • Excerpt: I will freely admit I’ve been inundated with music games in the past month, which has resulted in a temporary aversion to the genre. Even so, in my eyes, it isn’t difficult to see which music game is the class of the category for the holiday season: it’s

Rock Band 3 Review

PlayStation Universe
5 November 2010
  • Summary: Rock Band 3 is quite possibly the most successful music game ever. It keeps the old Rock Band formula wholly intact, and adds upon it a whole new layer of gameplay that carefully leads you across the slow, rickety bridge from simple imitation to real creation.
  • Pros: The revolutionary introduction of Pro mode, which supports backwards compatibility on the drums, The well-built, fun-to-play piano peripheral, The superb 83-song setlist
  • Cons: The cheapest Pro guitar is equal in price to two and a half new games

We're getting the band back together.

Game Revolution
26 October 2010
  • Conclusion: Oh, these rhythm games, they grow up so fast. It seems like just yesterday Guitar Hero was coming out on the market, quickly replacing DDR at the top of the rhythm game food chain, only to be (arguably) usurped by its upstart cousin, Rock Band , a few years later.
  • Pros: Pro Keys, Pro Guitar/Bass, Streamlined menu interfaces, Better avatar customization, Combined quick play and career
  • Cons: Not the best teaching tool, Some interface issues with Pro note track
