Summary: Despite the reviews, I went ahead and purchased this game since it is a JRPG and I love playing this type of games. The story is pretty well-written although it does lag at times and the combat system takes some time to get down before it really gets interesting. The difficulty is steep so do not expect a game you can easily breeze through.
Summary: I'm only 2 hours in so far, but I like how complex the game is. The graphics are a little 'grainy' compared to other RPG titles (Enchanted Arms, FF13), but it's still awesome. I link hitting enemies with 60+ hit combos!
Summary: I have two problem with this game, first is the battle system, secondly the story;there's none. I admit, the battle system looks pretty cool, I got seduced by the cinematic shootings when I researched it on YouTube. However, its only a facade. Those flashy jumps that you see the characters do when they shoot; that's all the battle system has to offer. The guns that you get aren't that special, plus the battle system has a steep learning curve.
Summary: For a game released on 2010, the graphics of this title seem outdated, and won't even refer to the monotonous backgrounds and enemies, to make it short, all looks somewhat the same. The presentation and structure of the game itself its actually well done, each chapter has a main quest and a few side quests, and is fun aiming to complete all of them; the biggest drawback I should point is the plot itself, once the earlier chapters are finished, and without spoiling the...
Different than your usual JRPG -- not perfect but fun
13 July 2010
Summary: The combat is difficult almost from the start so know what you are getting into. The game throws you into battle with little intro and the way you fight is unlike any other game out there. But, if you are patient with yourself and learn the controls, and like a challenge, you'll very likely enjoy the combat. It is worth mentioning that the combat is only partly turn-based.
Excerpt: This game takes ages in the beginning to understand how to battle, to do the (several) tutorials and read the instructions. So the player needs to be persistant and have the patience to go through it all. After the long start the rest is very good, the storyline gets better near the middle and eventually you get the hang of the game. One thing that the makers have managed to do in this game is make all battles challenging yet still possible.
Summary: Resonance of Fate is a very nice game and it's enjoyable for the unlockables. The downside is that the battle system is very repetitive. You basically stick with the same actions throughout the entire game and it can be very troubling for people who aren't good at it.
Summary: The world of Resonance of Fate takes place in a tower. You have three characters right from the start, and the music and setting are charming and a little steam-punk. It's a very promising looking game... until you get to the battle system. For most RPGs you do have to learn some things to fight the battles, but RoF takes the cake.
Summary: This game is a good RPG, it has a good story line and the graphics are great. The only thing letting this game down is the combat system is tricky at times, other than that it is worth trying only if you really like rpg's though as it does take a while to get into it.
