Resistance 3

Destructoid
2 September 2013
  • Summary: Resistance has always been a bit of a strange series for the PlayStation 3. As an exclusive, it's always enjoyed added exposure and attention from press, but divisive opinions on its quality and the dated nature of its gameplay have awarded it far less commendation compared to the likes of inFAMOUS and Uncharted .

Test Resistance 3

Generation NT
22 October 2011

Resistance 3

Tech2

  • Excerpt: Unlike other first party franchises like Uncharted or God of War that are unanimously loved, Sony’s Resistance series has always divided the crowd. While one part loves the war torn Chimera invaded world created by Insomniac Games, the others feel the game lacks a certain spark to distinguish it from the sea of other shooters. I tend to agree with the latter. Now before you nail me to a cross calling me a hater you need to understand I don’t hate the game.

  • Excerpt: At the end of Resistance 2, Joseph Capelli guns down Nathan Hale, the series' protagonist. In one decisive shot, Hale's story is concluded, emphatically, and effectively freeing the franchise of its unnecessary baggage. Three years later, Insomniac Games returns to their alien infested alternate history, unburdened. Three years later, Capelli has traded in his dog tags and Carbine for a wedding band, a son and a chance at a 'normal' life.

Resistance 3

Game Over Online

  • Excerpt: Call me crazy, but the first two console installments of the Resistance franchise have left me mildly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are perfectly good first-person shooters, and I’m genuinely captivated by the fiction of this alternate history, but so far the series has failed to live up to its potential coming from a developer as talented as Insomniac Games. Take Resistance 2 for example.

Resistance 3 Review

thinkdigit.com
27 September 2011
  • Summary: Resistance 3 is a complete entertainer for FPS fans. The simple plot, gruesome Chimera, brutal weapons and challenging landscapes will keep you engaged enough. Majority of the time the story moves forward with you shooting the Chimera, with fairly little narrative in between. Graphics are much better than Resistance 2 and the weapon wheel has been brought back which makes switching weapons and control over them quite a piece of cake.
  • Pros: Great looking game, Numerous, satisfying weapons
  • Cons: Fairly limited character modelling, facial expressions, Lacklustre story

Resistance 3 PS3 Review

Console Obsession
16 September 2011
  • Excerpt: With Nathan Hale dead after he lost his mind to the Chimera, his killer Joseph Capelli has taken the mantle of Resistance 3 protagonist, and with him has come a welcome shift in tone and it turns out that it’s good riddance, Hale. Joe is a much more likable character than Hale ever was, and the fact that he’s fully human and has a wife and son that he just wants to give a better life means that he’s much easier to get behind.
